Dale Trimble - Football Recruiting

PalmettoSports.com | South Carolina Recruiting | Phil Kornblut | GoUpstate.com

"DB Dale Trimble (5-10 180) of Gadsden, AL got a close up look at Auburn and Alabama last week during his spring break. Trimble said he spent Tuesday thru Thursday at Auburn, then returned to Auburn for their spring game. And later that day he drove to Tuscaloosa to visit with the Crimson Tide. Trimble said he has a verbal offer from Clemson and other offers from Tennessee, Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. He last talked to Clemson recruiter Charlie Harbison at junior day. Trimble said Auburn is making the strongest push. He won't make a decision until Signing Day. He does not have a favorite."

"Coach (Lance) Thompson was by our school for practice this week," Trimble said. "Tennessee is one of the schools that I'd say is recruiting me the hardest, along with Auburn."
Where have we heard that before?

Says he wants to see UT soon. Going to try to make it up by the end of the month -- June at the latest. He mentions that Tennessee was the first to offer him and that's a big deal to him. Says that having Monte Kiffin here is a big attraction. Alabama or Auburn do not have an instate advantage. He grew up a fan of the SEC more so than one particular school.

A solid player......?? Is that what we're trying to get?? Gadsden is in my sales territory and I have watched Trimble play a few times. While he is a decent player, he is NOT a great player. I know that he does not currently have a commitable offer to Bama as he tried to commit but was told to wait. Surely we are not going to take a reject from that state in a year where the talent level is down.......

Any more wisdom to dish out?

Since you obviously know more about recognizing talent than Ed Orgeron and Monte Kiffin combined. Two guys with 6 National Championships and a Super Bowl between them.

What are your credentials again?

When Saban and Chizik aren't that hot on a kid in their own state in a year that is way down on talent, I'd question that, sure. Monte has been coaching in the NFL for how long now???? You don't recruit in the NFL, you coach.

Coaches D Line, Trimble is a cornerback. If he is GREAT, why won't Bama let him commit now????

Maybe he doesn't fit what Bama wants their DBs to do?

The idea that someone would question our defensive staff's interest in a recruit boggles my mind.

You guys will how good he is. He won't play in the shadows of two top 100 players this year.

Thompson chases Gadsden prospects : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com

With former Alabama coach Lance Thompson leading the charge, Tennessee is in contention for two prospects from Gadsden City (Ala.) High School: rising senior cornerback Dale Trimble and rising junior safety Daryl Collins.

Thompson, now the linebackers coach at UT, has already impressed the duo, especially Trimble.

“Tennessee is the first school to offer me and they’re the first school I camped in,” the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder said. “I really like Tennessee.”

The feeling was mutual as Trimble was named one of the defensive back MVPÂ’s in TuesdayÂ’s skill-position camp at UT.

“I thought I did pretty well but I can do better,” Trimble said. “Just got to keep working.”

Trimble has 11 offers, including invites from Auburn, Clemson, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and UT.

“I really don’t have a top five,” Trimble said, “but Tennessee is one of them.”

Collins is a work in progress for any recruiter. His early impressions of UT are good.

“It was cool man,” the 6-foot, 190-pounder said of UT’s camp. “I really enjoyed it. I really liked the facilities.”

Collins doesnÂ’t have any scholarship offers yet but that will likely change. Collins said he has heard from plenty of schools.

“Tennessee, if I had to pick, they are on my mind,” Collins said.

TrimbleÂ’s decision will almost certainly have an impact on Collins.

“Dale’s my boy,” Collins said. “We go to the same school. I grew up with him. I’ve known him since I was about five or six (years old).”

He sounds high on the Vols! It seems he impressed the coaches and it never hurts to have a 5'11" CB with that speed.

"I am going to Florida on the 24th and then to Ole Miss," said Trimble. "I have been to Clemson, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn and Jacksonville State. I have been having fun and getting some more workouts in."

"The school that is recruiting me the hardest is Tennessee and then probably Auburn and Clemson," said Dale. "I really like Tennessee. They were the first school to offer me."

Per Scout... It sounds as if Auburn is the main competition here...
