One of the most impressive players we saw over the weekend was Corona (Calif.) defensive back Demetrious Wright. Wright tested very well at the NIKE Combine in Long Beach Saturday and then was among the top three defensive backs in attendance at the NIKE Camp at USC Sunday.

Wright measured in at a solid 6-1, 190 pounds on Saturday and had the days second fastest 40 time running a 4.49. He was even more impressive on Sunday jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage while showing the speed to run with every wide out he went up against.

"I thought I had a good day," Wright said following the camp on Sunday. "I wanted to come out here and show I'm one of the cornerbacks around and I think I did that."

On the recruiting front, Oregon was the most recent school to offer Wright and is a co-leader at this time.

"Oregon and Arizona are my top two," Wright said. "I want to take all my trips and I'll do that during the season so I can see the game atmosphere.

"UCLA was my top school early on and it seemed like they were going to offer me but they kind of dragged their feet and I'm not really looking at them any more. I like Tennessee, Washington and a few others right now as well."

I was telling my buddy today that UT is becoming secondary U.

That buddy is also a UGA fan. He thinks MBrown is gods gift of football (pickin at nick)

but this kid has great measurables, if he can get his 40 to a 4.4 he would have tons of offers come rolling in. Thats a Very strong bench for a corner

if we could get him and dorsey this year i'd say that would be enough to keep the depth full!!!

good grief kids act like the Trojans are the mecca of college football when they are offered by them....

i understand the accomplishments of the program and the hollywood allure of SoCal but ga i just don't understand y so many kids are in absolute awe by an offer from them....

the accomplishments and especially the gameday environments of several sec programs easily compete with USC yet when a FLA, TENN, LSU offers....(to me at least) it doesnt seem like kids put them on the same pedostal as USC

"Cal offered him (Monday)," said his mother, Marilyn.

And that was just part of the good news. Wright also was selected to play in a postseason all-American game.

"We just faxed back his acceptance to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Game," said his mother.

from espn...

Colorado became the latest school to offer Corona (Calif.) defensive back Demetrious Wright. He said he has a solid top six at the moment.

"Right now, and this is in no order, my top six is USC, Florida, Washington, Tennessee, Arizona and Cal," Wright said. "USC and Florida have a slight lead, but I'm going to give everyone a fair shot and my trips will tell me a lot about where the best fit for me is."

Wright is a big, physical corner with the versatility to also play safety, if needed. He clocked a 4.49 40-meter dash at the Nike combine in Long Beach, has a great frame and projects very well at the college level.

Anything interesting in the latest Rivals article? This kid seems like an outstanding talent, but obviously USC worries me.

I find it interesting that a lot of these west coast kids have offers from a bunch of p10 schools...and then Florida and Tennessee.

We seem to be the only SEC teams who recruit nationally...

“Tennessee is recruiting me pretty good right now,” Wright told InsideTennessee.com. “Right now I’m planning on taking an official visit to Knoxville for the UCLA game, that should be a good one.”

“Coach Cregg has been great,” Wright said. “He is great to talk to, and you can tell he really loves at Tennessee. He is telling me that I can make a quick impact on their defense.”

“Monte Kiffin is a defensive guru,” Wright said. “He is one of the best in the business. It would be great playing for him.”

Right now Wright plans on taking official visits to Tennessee, Florida, Arizona, Washington and USC.

“I want to see other parts of the country,” Wright said. “I want to see what SEC football is all about, I’m excited about taking a trip to Tennessee.”

“I plan on taking some trips when my season gets going and right now I’ve scheduled (official visits) to Washington and Tennessee,” Wright said. “I’m visiting Tennessee when they play UCLA (Sept. 12) and I’m going to Washington when they play LSU (Sept. 5)."

“I don’t have any interest in UCLA, but USC is one of my top schools and a school I plan on visiting, too” said Wright. “It’s so close to home and easy to visit. Arizona is also a school I want to visit and I’m still deciding on my fifth visit. I go up and down with Florida. Distance isn‘t really an issue, but they have strong depth at DB.”
