"I really like Tennessee," Shirley said. "I like they're work ethic. They are hard workers and I like all schools, Tennessee has that drive."

Shirley told he would be perfect fit in UTs system
He has got some really impressive numbers and the kid just looks like a force to be reckoned with on the field. Hopefully our coaches can lure him away form the west coast!

Shirley is being recruited by tight ends and tackles coach James Cregg, who told Shirley he would be a perfect fit in UTÂ’s system.

“I can help the program with the way I play,” Shirley said. “My speed works right in with the way they play.”
Shirley said heÂ’s intrigued by the possibility of playing for Kiffin.

“I’d be learning what former NFL coaches have learned and they’d be passing it down to me,” Shirley said.

Until he signs that LOI in Feb'10, he's still fair game. Not necessarily a USC lock. Gordon, Teague, and Nuke were all thought to be also.

Oh, and Janzen, and also Bryce Brown. Don't under-estimate the staff, you've already seen results of 3 months of recruiting.

Before that, Tennessee offered Shirley, an offer that he had been hoping for since we first talked to him in March. And more could be on the way.

“As of right now, my top schools would be UCLA, Tennessee, Washington, Arizona, Cal and USC,” said Shirley. “But I don’t have a leader yet.”

I have a feeling that he will come east out to Tennessee. Could be our first big West Coast commit, if heaps or scroggins doesn't pull the trigger before he does.

"Probably USC, UCLA and Tennessee. I like their staffs programs. I'll be looking at academics, how much interest they have in me, and how they'll take care of me for the next four years of my life.

"I'll probably decide late and take a while to decide. I plan to take all of my (official) visits. Distance is not a factor."
