Brett Nottingham Monte Vista High School Football Stats 08-09 - MaxPreps (features a game-by-game statistical breakdown)

2008 Jr. Season: 2,797 yards and 34 touchdowns to only 9 interceptions. Brett was an All-state underclass selection. 192 competions in 274 attempts for a 70% success rate.

Brett is on the rise, with various recruiting writers touting his accuracy and decision making, in addition to his arm strength.

I only have one clip to go off, but he seems to take all his snaps under center and looks much more like a traditional dropback passer than most of the high school quarterbacks in this cycle. He's athletic enough to extend the play, but he's clearly a pass-first quarterback.

What's he looking for?

"First thing would an opportunity to play quarterback," Nottingham said. "Second thing would be to get a quality education that will help me out later in life. Third I would like to go a school that has a strong tradition and a strong fan base that would be fun to play in front of."

He has a very high GPA and should get some Ivy League offers to go with various offers from Pac-10 schools. Notre Dame is also amongst the schools showing Nottingham interest.

He has a pansy name but I am on a BlackBerry so I can't see if that image is a rivals profile. Is it?

He looked to be a pretty good QB but I did see a few throws that I didn't like in coverage. He had a few WRs that made some nice plays. I liked the #4 WR at the 9 min mark he had a nice catch and run.

Kid looks pretty good. Looks like CLK's style of QB. Looks good in the red zone. Had some some nice 'corner of the endzone' throws. He threw into coverage a few times, but he seemed to drop it right in where only his receiver could get to it. Seems to be pretty accurate and makes the out route throw well.... I like him, but what do I know?

What I like about Nottingham is that he looks like a quarterback. He looks confident and composed standing in the backfield. His body language and his motion appear fluid and steady. Some of these highlights remind me of how Graham Harrell looked last year---the game seemed so slow and effortless for him, as he stood back there and just picked defenses apart.

Bump... Anyone know/heard anything more on this kid? He looked good in that video.

This kid makes some really nice throws. He also moves really well for a big QB and seems to play very smart.

I see Rivals has Scroggins #6 and Heaps #8. I saw Hinder at #2. Are we actively recruiting Hinder? The pickings are getting slim because most top QB's have committed.

I don't think we are going after Hinder. I don't know if the coaches like the other guys better or what. There has been mention of us pursuing him if we miss out on a guy like Heaps or Scroggins.

I would just like to get a commitment out of Hendrix. A lot of people think he would be a good second QB to take, but I think the kid could end up being really good. I would love to get Heaps or Scroggins, dont' get me wrong, but getting Hendrix and another QB like Nottingham, Cameron Newton (Juco), or someone else, wouldn't really disappoint me either.

I still think Hendrix would still be the #2 QB behind Newton if that was the combo we eneded up with. IMO

You might be right. I would just like to get a commitment out of him and then worry about who else we could get. I think he has the potential of being a very solid QB regardless of who else we sign. Even if he is considered the #2 QB.

Nottingham's accuracy could eventually lead him to a spot in the coveted Elite 11 field. The camp has become known as the nation's premiere event for high school passers, and Rivals.com analyst Barry Every said there's no question Nottingham belongs in that elite category.

"To me, he's one of the best quarterbacks I've seen this year," Every said about the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder. "Strictly from a camp point of view, he's one of the best, if not the best quarterback I've seen this year. He's the most consistent guy I've seen.

"He's very accurate and has excellent footwork. He's got good arm strength but not a cannon. He's very, very accurate, and he throws spirals every time. He has a lot of touch on his passes. He can make any throw."

Per Rivals... Apparently he tore it up at the Elite 11 Camp yesterday in Berkeley...

If this weekend couldn't get any better for this little-known quarterback as he followed up his Elite11 performance with another very steady afternoon of throwing the ball on the money. His pro-style release and wrist flick allow him to throw tight spiral after tight spiral. Physically he looks ready to compete at the next level right now with a muscular linebacker build at 6-3 and 215 pounds. Look for his stock to go through the roof after back-to-back stellar performances.

Per Rivals... His only offers are from UC-Upstate and Wyoming. That should change very shortly...

nottingham has great stats from a very competitive league. i don't understand at all why he hasn't gotten more interest.

Probably just needs more exposure. I think he will pick up more offers the more he attends the combines and continues to get positive reviews.
