Family seems to be feeding Scroggins some crazy-pills....

SC, the favorite, signed Matt Barkley last winter. Barkley departed Mater Dei (Calif.) High School as the nation's top pro-style QB recruit.

Nevertheless, all signs point to LA for Scroggins. Apparently his family feels that Jesse is the better QB and can earn the starting nod for the Trojans day one as well. The jury's out on that one, but if Barkley earns the job this season and runs with it, Scroggins would be silly to stay home.

According to the quote which followed that, it seems like we need to pull hard for Barkley to land and ace the starting job this year. IF that happens, it may not matter if JS commits today. If he sees Barkley taking over as a freshman, then he may bolt for somewhere else. At least if he's smart he will.

I know that some think that Kif will step back and evaluate the possibilities if we whif on Scrogs, but if this big surprise is true, then Kif could very well have another QB lined up and ready to say UT! right after Scroggins says USC!!!!! I wouldn't be surprised a bit.

Very true. A commitment doesn't mean he will for sure sign with that team, even if it's us he commits to.

Teams I'll be pulling for this year.
1. USC is JS commits there, hoping Barkley dominates.
2. Anyone playing Notre Dame.. Get Weis out, and CUM in.

If he thinks he's better than Barkley, why wouldn't he also think he's better than Corp? He sees himself starting at SC and doesn't see those guys as obstacles. He's either Mitch Mustain, part 2, or the next Peyton Manning, without the reasoning skills.

Peyton would be smarter than to sign behind that much depth, even if he had confidence, he was better. Greatness is a subjective measure and CPC is not going to start benching his favorite sons, especially when they are playing well.

Anyhow... reasoning has lost in Scroggins' case up to this point, so I'm less hopeful that it would ever come into play down the road under any circumstances at SC.

If he commits to SC today (as expected), unless he is a silent to UT, I hope the staff is smart enough to move on.

He could be better than Barkely but Barkley will have already have had one year in the system. That alone gives Barkely an tremendous advantage. It would really be plain arrogant to expect to start from day one. Not to mention Mustain is also on the roster.

Move on! NSD is not until February! If we took that attitude, we would not have signed a top 10 class this year!!!

I always wonder who would replace Meyer if he left. I'd like to go so far out into left field to say Fulmer. But...I know he wouldn't do that. I could see him going to almost any SEC school BUT Florida.

But yes, if Scroggs goes to SC, pray for a early injury to Corp, or that Barkley wins and keeps the top spot. If Barkley makes himself untouchable, he is Carroll's boy, and jesse would realize he has no shot.

I could see him decommitting if Barkley DOESN'T get the starting position and redshirts. Otherwise I think Scroggins will stay at USC.

Weis will win at least 9 games, go to a BCS bowl game, lose, but keep his job. Meyer will be at UF for a while.

it does matter. it matters so much to finishing the summer recruiting. we are a week from august and little of a month from football season starting. JS to UT will close the deal for some recruits we are after. JS to USC will open the door to other schools for some and break us for others. this is going to hurt in the short run a lot. long run, well, we will see...

The problem is we don't have enough depth at QB to waste on someone this incapable of reasoning.

Yes, move on! Nobody is claiming this guy is Matt Barkley except Scroggins and his family. If he were, he'd be smart enough to commit to UT today. Apparently, he's not.

This is not like Bryce Brown. Brown was deliberate and intellectual throughout the process. I never thought I'd say it, but Scroggins needs Bulter's help.

I'm trying not to get frustrated, but irrational people do not suddenly become rational. Move on!
