He may run a 5.45 second 40 but he also won the county meet in the 400 meters which is one of the hardest sprints in track and field.

.I heard we had a chance with after all? any news?
"I'm going to visit during the UCLA game," Bray said. "I hear they have a huge stadium. It's going to be crazy to feel the atmosphere of the fans. I'm sure it's going to be crazy. I'll get to see how Tennessee actually is."
"I don't know yet," Bray said. "I'm talking it over. I'll probably make my final decision on signing day."
I believe Bray will wait and make his final decision on signing day about as much as I believe I will be the next President of the United States. I'm not buying it. Why would a guy that has already committed to San Diego St. wait until NSD to commit to a big school like UT? He didn't wait before, and please, it was San Diego St. The only way I could see him waiting until then is if he did a silent commit to a school and then on NSD signs with a different school like Nuke did. However, that will not work at UT more than likely because we need the exposure. Now, if we continue to recruit like we are and land the receivers that we are anyways, and get a some OL guys, then maybe. I still say if he comes to UT for his visit and falls in love with it, this kid will commit before October, unless distance is a factor.
I agree, I just don't think that UT will wait that long for a QB commit. I think we will have someone commited by October. IMO
This was reported by Tom Luginbill yesterday on Birmingham Sports Talk radio (so, sorry if it was posted here yesterday...). They were talking about the upcoming class of QB's, and Luginbill explained what we already know- limited number of top quality QB's in the upcoming class. He said there were 6 or so who fit the bill. He said there was a group of 8 on the next level- guys who would all have to redshirt and be invested in. But, in his opinion, he said that Tyler Bray would be the best of the bunch and that his best comparison for Bray was Matt Leinart. He went on to say that BRay will not stick at SDSU, but that he would most likely land at UT.
Don't misunderstand, Bray will not step onto campus and be Leinart, but after a redshirt year and as much development as Kiffin and company can invest, the thought is that Bray could develop into a player with Leinart's skills. Luginbill said Bray would definitely be a big time player for a BCS conference school.
If that footage is of him, then its from when he was in middle school. We had this discussion a month ago. That kid ran like a 57 or 58, which is pretty unspectacular. That same kid competed in the 100m dash...wasn't impressive...at all. I coach track...have a 13 year old girl who ran that 100 faster.
There had been talk of Tennessee getting involved with (Cameron) Newton, especially because he is good friends with Vols wide receiver commitment Markeith Ambles, but the Vols want California quarterback Tyler Bray first and foremost.
Bray, a San Diego State commitment, will visit Tennessee on the weekend of Sept. 11 and is getting the full-court press from Lane Kiffin and his staff. If Tennessee can land Bray, they will have the quarterback they desperately need in this class and a prospect who is a perfect fit for Kiffin's offense. If not, they could try to get involved with Newton, but by that time, it could be too late.
