'10 FL DT Todd Chandler

Chandler, a player Fishbein and ESPN consider UM's top commitment, has always wanted to play at Miami. He wants to join his former high school teammates -- quarterback Jacory Harris among them -- who won a mythical national title with him at Northwestern in 2007. But Chandler said he will let the recruiting process play out.

''I can see myself going to Miami,'' Chandler said. ``But I'm getting recruited by Tennessee and Georgia the hardest. . . .

``But, like I told them, it would take something special for me not to go to UM.''

Interviewed him earlier tonight, and he is still very much considering UT and UGA, despite what UM fans say. If he goes anywhere other than UM, it's UT IMO. He said he really likes Orgeron, both the Kiffins, Gran and really just the whole staff. Will take an official visit here and I think we have a real shot at him. And by the way, this kid is who I want most of the defensive side of the ball out of anybody. Over Corey Miller, Willis, Quarles all of those guys. He will be a beast in college, the next Warren Sapp without a doubt. Talked to Jakhari Gore (FL RB) who's played against practically everybody in FL and said he was the best player, bar none, he's gone against. Also said he'll be better than Marcus Forston, a 5 star recruit that committed to UM a few years back.

This is the DT I want the most. With him and possibly Luc to go alond with what we have now, the D will bw strong. We need Milton and Cobbs since Green don't look like he's gonna make it this year. But, it's gonna be hard on the Offensive side without a solid QB prospect to lead the group.

Him, Jacques Smith, and JC Copeland together would be a terror on the DL.

"On the first day coaches could call I got calls from FIU, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida State," Chandler said. "They were all just checking up on me, making sure I still know how they want me, and things like that."

"I'll definitely be taking all five," he said. "I probably won't even go to UM for one. The ones I'll take are Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State, LSU, and probably FIU."

Tennessee -- "I really like the coaching staff there. Coach Gran and I are real cool. I like Coach Kiffin and Coach O. Coach O was telling me how he coached Warren Sapp when he was at Miami and thinks I could be like that."

Per Scout... He is still committed to Miami, but he is taking all 5 official visits and none of them will be to the Canes. I think we have a real shot here...

That's really interesting. He must know he is definitely going to one of the schools he listed outside of FIU and is visiting as some sort of gesture. That one makes you scratch your head when you look at the other schools.

With who we have now, adding him to the DL would be nasty. As we begin winning they will come. They all know of and like new attitude and swagger we have now. At all starts in 2 days baby!!!!

He's a top 3 DT in the country without question... If not the top.

Stealing him would be like stealing Nu'keese in many ways. Could play early, a very good player. Also plays for Miami Northwestern which is a huge pipeline for Miami and stealing him huge... Not to mention he could help us with other Northwestern players.

I have not heard a whole lot about him. You think he's as good as Floyd, Quarles, Uko, Bible, etc.?

I would definitely like someone to be connected to Bridgewater at Northwestern...

He's easily as good as them. Before he got injured people were talking about him as the #1 overall player in this class. As a sophomore, a lot of the time he outplayed Marcus Forston (5 star player). Won overall MVP at several camps in South Florida. In the camp circuit, has only lost one 1 on 1 to Jose Jose when he tripped over his shoe lace. Has a USC offer...

At the Miami Nike Camp:

Keeping pace with Luc as the most dominating defender and overall prospect of the Miami NIKE camp was Miami Northwestern DT Todd Chandler. Once again, he earned MVP honors as the top DL and with good reason when you consider his leg drive and low center of gravity off the line of scrimmage and that's not even covering amazing burst off the line of scrimmage. Chandler throughly sent a clear message at this camp as he destroyed countless offensive lineman in the one-on-one drills. The Hurricanes should get an immediate force on their defense with the addition of Chandler.

He is Orgeron's ideal DT to a tee.. On and off the field.

he will add so much more as a teammate and leader in the locker room.

Put this kid with Orgeron and he will the best DT in college football.

As a sophomore at the Miami Nike Camp:

That never more evident with the first one on one drill when Chandler lined up against Jose Jose of Booker T. Washington and exploded not around the but straight through big powerful lineman. Chandler then shouted towards the lineman: "Let's do it again if you think it's a fluke."

I would love to have this kid from reading the last few posts. The only thing that worries me is Miami rarely loses a kid from Northwestern. But if anyone can get it done it is Grann and Coach O.

If UT can somehow get him, I believe we put ourselves in an excellent position with Bridgewater, would be one of those commitments that pay dividends in the future as well IMO.

Also, he might be a good defensive tackle. Which is the reason you recruit guys... So they can play for your team.
