You're welcome.

Ian Silberman is deKiffinated
by Swampie on March 16, 2009

Went going through the efforts of trying to gather film you meet a lot of nice people. Coach Joel Brighton of Fleming Island High School at Orange Park, Florida is one of them. He’s Ian Silberman’s head coach. Silberman is Florida’s first commitment for the 2010 class he’s a large athletic offensive lineman at 6-5, 275.

Strange enough, we talked a while tonight long enough for him to email me and for me to email him twice. Neither of my emails went through yet his came in fast, go figure. Was trying to get him my address for some tape on Silberman. Must be those Lane Kiffin spies.

Anyway coach had mentioned Silberman was the first Gator commit last time. I told him that I checked it and he was the first one by a couple of weeks. (Ian Silberman 7/16/08 – Trey Burton 7/31/08)

He said that Silberman actually committed last year at Friday Night Lights. And that he and Trey Burton still talk frequently.

I then made a mistake. I said coach isn’t it good when a high profile guy like that commits early it takes the heat off, you don’t get bothered so much.

Coach Brighton laughed then said, “right now is the no phone call period so he’s getting bombarded by mail. Coach Mullen told me last year ‘you’re going to have a circus here next year.’”

I said to coach, I bet you Tennessee is on him then because they just love to try and steal any Gator recruits they can.

Brighton said, “Ian is getting bombarded by mail from Tennessee. Tennessee is definitely sending. USC started to send stuff. He’s getting mail from the Purdue’s, LSU has sent some stuff.”

Coach said, “May will be interesting.”

In one aspect the attention is good. Coach Brighton said he has some other D-1 prospects on his team, he said they aren’t at the level of a recruit Florida would go after but everyone looking at Silberman just helps them get more exposure.

In the end Brighton said, “I would be absolutely stunned if he were to end up anywhere else. He, his mom and I were talking about how the process was really going to unfold. Right now I believe he’d rather just not take any visits.”

And he has support according to Brighton. “His Mom was a die-hard Georgia fan before, now she’s Orange and Blue all over. “

Joel Brighton, a Gator fan, graduated from Florida in August of 2006. “I graduated right before the national championship can you believe that? I was there for the basketball championships though.”

Then there is Coach Scot Loeffler (to the right) who recruits that area. Brighton says he’s done a great job that he’s really personable. He couldn’t say enough good stuff about him. Coach said the Gator staff is staying on Siberman.

Ian Silberman appears as solid as it gets, with all his support it looks like that’s just how it’s going to stay.

I think kiffin will get either him or green in the end. Maybe even both.

Just wanted to check in and see if Silberman was visiting for your game this weekend.

I'm gonna guess this is the kid you were talking about in the other thread...the 'surprise', off-the-radar prospect from Fl.

No. I know of 5 names that I was told to watch Tennessee closely for and he is one of them.

There is absolutely no fear from me in regards to recruiting. Our class is going to be amazing.

Not heard much on him. We have 4 OL committed. We want two more. Those two would likely be Cullen and Green. Green is the top priority. Cullen is important though because he is a JUCO and could contribute immediately. I suppose we could send Pair packing but our staff really likes his potential. Not quite so sure if we would pass on Cullen for Silberman. I suppose we could also take 7 OL but that seems a little steep. Regardless, kid is a player and I wouldn't mind taking him.

other 4 names if commits would be Elam, M. Brown, Dorsey and we have to be calling still on Watkins and Dowling to find out if they want to play DB, since Meyer may have them playing receiver. Some fun notes, Elam is not really thrilled with arrogant attitude of Deitrich Riley, so if he commits on the visit for the FSU/UF Game, then welcome Elam to Knoxville.
