Kenny Shaw’s phone has been ringing off the hook with the likes of Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, and Lane Kiffin.
Shaw, who plays for Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida, has upwards to 30 offers, but says “roughly” five are starting to stick out.
“I’m considering all my offers but I like Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.” Said the 6’1, 165 pounder. “That’s my rough top five right now.”
What does Shaw like about those five schools?
“I like all the colleges because they air the ball out a lot.” Shaw said. “I don’t really like anything specific but at Florida State and Florida I feel have a better relationship with the coaches”
Shaw also addressed the message on his Facebook that read “FSU class of 2014”.
“My girlfriend did that.” said a laughing Shaw.
The elusive wide receiver also talked about his Dr. Phillips High School Team, as well as his personal game.
“We made the second round of playoffs and had a 10-2 record.” Shaw offered. “We have a good chance of winning state this year. As for myself, my best attribute is probably my route running ability. I don’t think I have much to improve on, but you can always work on things.”
Shaw, who claims Byrnes (SC) Running Back Marcus Lattimore was the best player he’s ever played against, also has a few upcoming camps, as well as unofficial visits in his future.
“On July 18th I plan on attending Seminole Showtime at Florida State, on the 23rd I got a 7 on 7 camp I’m going to and visits will just depend on my football season.” Shaw said.
Shaw also described what he might do with his five allotted official visits, as well as a timeline for a final decision.
“I’m taking all my official visits, and I’m deciding after that.” Shaw said. “I don’t know where I’m going to take my official visits to yet, but I definitely want to go out to California at either UCLA or Stanford.”
What does Shaw think of the very hectic recruiting process?
“At first it was kind of fun getting offers and all that, but now that I got like 20 plus and you have to start thinking about it, it’s kind of like another job.”
Shaw currently ranks as the #294 player in the Class of 2010, and the 40th best player in the state of Florida.
