"Georgia and UNC are still cool, nothing has changed with them," Whitaker responded. "I feel good about both. I just opened it up because I do not want to put a school on top without going and visiting my options. I am going to take all of my officials, and I will probably go to places I would not normally be able to get up and go to. Who knows, I may end up hours away from home, I do not know. I may go someplace and find it is the perfect fit." - Rivals article 4/13

Lets hope that is UT. Okay video. Kept good pad leverage. Saw some explosiveness at time. Solid 4*

“I have a lot of interest in Tennessee,” Whitaker told InsideTennessee.com Thursday evening. “I'm enjoying getting to know their new coaching staff, Coach (Lane) Kiffin has put together a great staff.”

“Coach Thompson is great,” Whitaker said. “He is recruiting me very hard, I like his style a lot and he is really easy to talk to.”

“It's pretty neat that Tennessee will be running the same defense that Tampa ran,” Whitaker said. “Coach Kiffin is one of the best in the business.”

Per Scout... His top 8 schools are Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Miami, South Carolina, Florida State, Florida, and Minnesota. He's gonna visit UT in either June or July, and the article says he weighs in at 310 now but he wants to be down to 290 by the end of summer. He benches 405 and squats 565 with a 27 inch vertical...

Agree bama. Very good one, IMO thats one reason why he was considered for the job here. Didnt get much consideration tho. 405 Bench is really good for a jr.

“I want to check out games at Tennessee, Auburn, [and] North Carolina,” Whitaker said. “I’ll probably check out a few more."

Per Scout... His top 6, in no particular order, are Auburn, Cal, UNC, Georgia, Oregon, and Tennessee...

Thanks LV, I would like to have this guy, but I imagine he is down our board some. None the less, would be a great pick up. Nice HS prospect.

Whitake doesn’t have any official visits scheduled yet but two likely destinations will be Tennessee and Alabama.

“The new coaches at Tennessee seem great,” he said. “I haven’t been there yet though and it’s hard to say much about them because we’ve only talked over the phone.

“But I’ve heard really good stuff about them,” he said of the Vols.

Per Scout...

Dude would be a great asset on the D-line in a couple of years, good athlete, and a big one at that.

"I haven't set up visits yet and I will take the ACT on Saturday. I have been studying for that. I might go somewhere the following weekend. I want to check out Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, and Cal. I also like Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Auburn. I want to go see games near by. Those are the schools for right now.

"I am still open with the recruiting process. Things that important are just an opportunity (scholarship offer) and a chance to play early. I don't want these coaches to sugar coating anything. Please tell me straight up and be real with me. I don't want the sales pitch. I want to truth. Most of the coaches have been straight forward the way I like it."

DT Jeffrey Whitaker, 6-3/295, Warner Robins (Ga.)

ASSETS: Incredible overall body structure and tremendous strength.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Becoming a better pass blocker by using arms and hands as weapons and disengaging offensive linemen quicker.
MOST IMPRESSIVE PLAY: In the first quarter he hustled down the line of scrimmage and caught the quarterback trying to reverse his field for a three-yard loss.
CONCLUSION: Has 18 offers, and I am surprised he does not have twice that many. He is one of the best-looking defensive tackles I have seen on the hoof this year. If he maintains his current size and conditioning he should become a force at the next level.

Believe UT will be in it, probably Mahoney and Quarles are the only 2 ahead of him on UT's big board IMO.

What schools are you planning on going to see?

"I got Auburn, I got North Carolina, I got Tennessee that I am thinking about, I got California that I know I am going to see, and last I think it is going to be Alabama, but I am really thinking about Tennessee right now."

Sounds very good. There is absolutely no way UGA can get both Whitaker and Thornton, if either of them, with all the commits on the DL they already have. Looks like we will be battling Auburn for both of them...

I hope Auburn keeps sputtering then.

UGA guys are saying they have really backed off Whitaker and are pressing Thornton. Of course, the Barn guys are saying they are going to land both of them...
