10 Games Left Predictions for Season

Unless we improve offensively, 5-5 at best. Every game is a struggle when we still can't consistently hit an outside shot and brick free throws. Hopefully, we will peak at the right time and finish the season strong, if so, 7-3. Getting Williams back would help us.

2/04 @ LSU 9:00 PM Win
2/06 SCAR 6:00 PM Win
2/09 @ VAN 7:00 PM Loss
2/13 @ UK 9:00 PM Loss
2/17 UGA 8:00 PM Win
2/20 @ SCAR 1:30 PM Loss
2/23 @ FLA 9:00 PM Loss
2/27 UK 12:00 PM Loss
3/03 ARK 7:00 PM Win
3/06 @ MSST 6:00 PM Win

Yikes: 5-5 the rest of the way and that's 21-9...say we win a game in the SECT and that takes us to 22-10, 6-7 seed and probably a 1-1 record in the NCAAT.

Vols sit at 16-4, 4-2 in the SEC. Before this game we were at #24 in the RPI.

Remaining schedule is -

2/04 @ LSU 9:00 PM
2/06 SCAR 6:00 PM
2/09 @ VAN 7:00 PM
2/13 @ UK 9:00 PM
2/17 UGA 8:00 PM
2/20 @ SCAR 1:30 PM
2/23 @ FLA 9:00 PM
2/27 UK 12:00 PM
3/03 ARK 7:00 PM
3/06 @ MSST 6:00 PM

How does the rest of the season play out and how far (or do) the Vols dance in March?

I see us finishing 6-4 with a prayer to hit 7-3. Realistically, I see losses ay KY and Vandy and 1 or 2 losses between KY in K-Town and trips to FLA and MISS ST. I think we will beat SC in Columbia.

We are currently 20th in the RPI. If we pull one out over KY and finish out 7-3 then we will be top 15 RPI and have a shot at a 4 seed - otherwise we will be a 6 or 7. the farthest I can see us going in the tourneys are Champ game SEC and Elite 8 with a max push in the NCAA's.

I don't think an Elite Eight is the ceiling, barring a miracle run to end the season and give them a top 8 seed in a very favorable bracket.

Hell, getting out of the first weekend is going to take some serious help.

Yeah I don't know how many 2 or 3 seeds we can beat to get to the S16.

Especially when you look at how good the 2 and 3 seeds will be this year.

On his updated bracketology, Lunardi has-

Bracketology - ESPN

Georgetown/Duke
West Virginia/Kansas State
Purdue/Texas
Michigan State/BYU

We'd have a shot to take down Duke, KState, Purdue, Texas, and maybe BYU except I don't know a thing about them.

I agree on Duke and BYU. The other three would be an iffy proposition.

I would throughly love to be the 6 seed in a bracket against Duke this year. They are not a 3 seed. If they get that it is by name recognition only.

Then again, I don't think we're a 4.

We showed we could play with Purdue, albeit we have no Tyler Smith, KState isn't as scary outside of Manhattan, and Texas cannot score or shoot foul shots to save their lives.

Fair assessments, but not having Tyler Smith would be huge, and I just don't see Tennessee being able to hang with Pullen and Clemente. I just have the feeling Texas would flat out kill Tennessee.

I don't like the prospects of us guarding BYU's 2-guard, but I think we'd be alright. I'm a big Duke homer, obviously, but I think we'd beat them easily.

Obviously all are better teams but I would give us a fighting chance in all of those games.

...just going by the way they have played in the last three games. 5-5, 21-9. They really need to win those 4 home games.

I feel kind of optimistic because we still haven't played our best basketball with the exception of the KU game.... I think we have time to hopefully hit stride in late February this year as opposed to peaking in late December and mid January the way we have the last 3 years. I think todays game is a good indicator of where we are defensively. Downey is gonna get his, but we are far more talented up and down the rest of the roster and we need to prove that by dominating, especially in the post. I think we lose road games to UK, SCAR, and Miss St. But I think we hit stride in the SEC tourney and either win or lose in the title game to UK. I think we get a 3 or a 4 seed and after that I have no clue because it all depends on matchups.

I still got 4-6 and whatever that was at LSU didn't do anything to change my mind...

I am going to play it safe and say 5-5. A lot of road games, and Kentucky twice. That still puts them in the tournament, but at an 8 or 9 seed.

I think we're staring at 5-5. I think for sure we lose both to Kentucky, and probalby lose at Vandy. I don't like our chances at South Carolina. The 2 "wild card" games are at Florida and at Miss. St. I think we split those.

12 seed maybe. if we lose anymore we're bubble at best.

At that point in the season and especially after the LSU "game" 4-6 or 5-5 was realistic....I'm overjoyed the Vols came through though.....7-3 was pretty good.....Hopefully they can carry it on a while longer....I'd love another match-up with the Cats....
