sorry guys...i just dont see a QB here. All of his throws are lofted to open guys down field. He may be able to throw it far but this offense he is in doesnt look like one where he has to thread teh needle or make any difficult passes. sorry...but i see the same play about everytime...a play action loft teh ball downfield to open WR. good athlete though...tough kid, but a QB...dont think so.

You gotta remember, though. That wasn't a scout vid. It was a highlight vid for the whole team.

Bad move. Iowa's recruiting classes have been worse than normal the past couple of seasons. Their class ranked 63rd last year. I would say Iowa State outrecruited them despite being ranked 75th. Can someone explain to me how rivals ranked Iowa's class ahead of State's?

ISU 23commits 2.52avg 1-4* 10-3*
IA 19commits 2.47avg 2-4* 5-3*

Lord and I have always disagreed about rivals/scout being better but this helps Lord's opinion of scout being better. This is taken from rivals... they've decided that the average of the talent ISU is bringing in is better. ISU also brought in more players. How on earth could rank Iowa 12 spots ahead of ISU let alone ahead of ISU at all?

kirk ferentz has his own system he doesnt care one lick about star ratings it doesnt matter to him. there is a reason why is one of the best coaches in college football becuz he has a system and he executes it. lot of great players came out of iowa and werent highly rated out of high school. bob sanders? dallas clark? matt roth? robert gallery? shonn greene and many more. and they have alot of quality people on their team and def on the Oline i see at least 3 people gettin drafted on it. Their left tackle bryan bulaga will be the number 1 tackle taken when he enters the draft

I'm so tired of hearing this. The guy is 70-53 over 10 years.

If he is so great, why hasn't he managed to make Iowa any more than a middle of the pack big 10 team?

All I know is, if Lane Kiffin goes 70-53 over the next ten years, then he will have spent half of them in the WAC or something, cause an average season record of 7-5 isn't gonna cut it.

dude, look at who he has beat in bowls. nick saban and lsu absolutely destroyed florida and ron zook played an awesome game with urban meyer and florida and should have won if it werent for terrible officiating. He destroyed steve spurrier and USCjr last year almost beat texas in the alamo bowl and he competes with alot less talent that is the true definiton of a COACH. and on top of that he get offered to be a head coach of an NFL team every year. need any more proof of why he IS one of the best coaches in college football big guy?

I don't think Kirk Ferentz is that great personally. Beating UNI and Arkansas State by 1 and 4 at home is rather embarrassing. So he almost beat Ron Zook. Zook stinks in my opinion. One of the worst coaches I've ever seen in fact. He brings in big time talent and goes on to lose to inferior teams. Then there is beating South Carolina. Not really impressed that Iowa's defense beat up on a freshman quarterback that's still horrible as a sophomore. Ole Miss was the only good team South Carolina beat last season. Kirk Ferentz is a good coach but I think calling him a great coach or one of the best is far fetched. He didn't look that great when he blew a huge lead to Iowa State and Seneca Wallace single handedly beat Iowa. That was their only loss during the regular season. Then they got crushed by USC in Florida.

Also, I am not sure why you used the argument that LSU crushed Florida and Iowa beat LSU. That really doesn't have much to do with anything. Hence the circle jerk the Big 12 had last year. Or... Stanford beating USC and USC crushing Illinois. Since Illinois beat Ohio State and Penn State, that means you'd essentially be saying that Stanford would win the Big 10. Wouldn't happen. I am not even sure how they beat USC. Pry couldn't beat USC again that season if they were given 99 chances.

um no he beat ron zook and florida by twenty points, im sorry but it you take the talent he recruits from iowa and goes and crushes florida like that you are a great coach. GREAT. its iowa for gods sakes. as we all know florida>iowa in high school prospects and the comparison is not even remotely close. he beat nick saban and lsu a year after they won the national title. he should have beat florida and urban meyer check it out on youtube the officiating was terrible. he almost beat mack brown and texas. and once again an NFL team comes calling for him every year. Now answer me this, how can he beat and compete with these great teams and coaches that have far more talent then he does? i will answer it for you because he is a GREAT coach not good GREAT. and i dont wanna hear the upset crap becuz he does this time and time again and everyone comes to play for a bowl game

This. I don't care one way or another for the coach so I'm not getting into the argument. But that last remark is the farthest thing from the truth. Kinna like everyone comes to play in the NIT. I've seen plenty of teams (a couple TN teams included) mail it it in their bowl game.

Alabama in the 09 Sugar Bowl comes to mind.

In response to IowaVol, I don't really care who he has almost beaten. He's 70-53 over 10 years in the Big 10. That is plain mediocrity.

I agree that Ferentz is wildly overrated. He may sneak up and beat a good team on occasion, but it seems like his team is consistently average in an average Big Ten.
