'10 JUCO CB Dequan Menzie

I'm sure people will say that to cover their tracks. Alot of posters on here losing their recruiting credibility.

This might have been the staff backing off more then him not wanting to go to UT. If I remember he was questionable to be enrolling for spring and might not come in until the summer. The same thing happened with M Hariis for us. We gave him a conditional offer based on him graduating in December, but he would not receive a spot if he did not. So when he tried to commit UA told him we need to wait. FSU came along and told him they do not care if he comes in the spring or the summer, so he decided to go to FSU.

If a JUCO can not come into the spring then a true freshman will serve the program better and I would bank that might be the case with Menzie and UT.

Also remember if a JUCO is having issues with grades they probably wouldn't make it in a 4 year school. The main reason they went to JUCO is usually because of poor grades. Something UT doesn't need to have to be concerned with.

Between Ole Miss and Aubbie. Many Rebs feel he's a lean but family, HS coach and location to home will play a major role in his decision....IMO Aubbie will land him. Kid wanted to attend AU out of HS but grades and coaching issues were major reason he ended up in JUCO.

Wilson leaving

Wasn't Wilson his big cheerleader on the staff? Once FW left, there weren't that many really in Menzie's corner. I do think its interesting how some of the CB/S are coming full circle and we are now being mentioned in the final groups. The dust is starting to settle and keep in mind our staff was just getting started last year at this time. We are in good hands.

I am not worried about our recruiting at all. I do get tired of reading all the sky is falling posts because a few recruits are looking around. As far as Menzie is concerned I do think that the whole Wilson situation was a big deal in his recruitment regardless of if it was Wilson or if we slow played him. IMO

This is a guy to still keep an eye on. Apparently he's always been a Lance Thompson recruit and the JUCO coach may have had a problem with Orgeron. With Rogan declaring, he'd be excellent to put the full court press on again.

I totally agree with you. I have always been a HUGE Menzie fan. He would now definitely start day 1 here. I am very afraid to have Art Evans making open field tackles against the likes of Julio, Green, and probably Reuben Randle next year. (Scary Thought)

Menzie is a Goner

"Ole Miss is still on top," Menzie said. "It looks like that's going to be my home."

"I just feel wanted and needed," Menzie said. "At some places, you're wanted but not needed. I just like the coaches and the program there. You know how you have to have that gut feeling? I just have a good gut feeling about Ole Miss

and he's taking his last visit this weekend to UNC
