Didn't make it to UAB. I went to high school with him. After the Oregon game he contacted me and said he wants to hopefully make it to UT next season.

Have to ask, why didn't he make it to UAB? If it's because of classes, hopefully he is informed about the SEC qualification rules.

Yeah it was a college algebra class. He's taking it online now, and one more english. He says he is in contact with the school. Also says the reason he wants to come to UT is because of the "killer performance" UT put on in the first half against Oregon.

It would be nice to get this guy on campus in January as an EE. Him, Couch, Carson, Wright, and Saulsberry would be good DT class. Plus having two Juco's that could contribute right away. With Marlon Walls being back next year our depth in the interior
of the DL would be nice.

Yeah I've seen him play football personally and he's an extremely hard worker. He moved a little slower in high school than he does now. The two years at juco have really improved him.

*facepalm*

with the recent crackdown on the online courses, I wouldnt have advised that route. I hope he talked to a conselor or had the course approved beforehand

I could see him walk on maybe if he wanted to come to Tennessee.

If he would be willing to walk on for a year and than get put on scholarship his senior year that would be great. I wonder if Dooley and Company are interested?

I'm sure they would welcome him as a walk-on. But I seriously doubt you would see them bring in a JUCO who had only 2 non-BCS offers and promise him a scholarship for a year after a walk on season. That said, maybe the situation at DT is that desperate and dire.

There is nothing to lose from putting him on scholly after his walk on season. We got plenty of open scholarships still available, we don't get any sort of benefit so why not use them?

Yeah I agree. I'm going to talk to him some this weekend. Any information I can pass on to volnation I will.
And to respond about the online class he is taking his time and finding a class with the help of someone that is acceptable. He doesn't want to screw up any chance he may have.

He had offers from Tennessee and Oklahoma St.

Oh I have been. The second we became friends in high school I started talking up Tennessee. We are pretty good friends and anytime I go to his house I always wear something Tennessee. He texted me saturday during the game and was excited about the defense he was seeing from Wilcox. So I don't think I'll have to talk up Tennessee too much anymore he is "lovin what I see". :)

And he signed with UAB? Did they actually pursue him throughout the process or send him an offer early and then never follow up on things? He's not a name that ever came up last year as being brought in on an official visit or anything like that.

I would assume grades but he definitely had an offer and came in for an unofficial last year. He always showed an offer on Scout and Fortenberry said this morning he had an offer.

Can you clarify this for me? Do you mean he has an offer for this year or were you referring to last year?
