'10 JUCO LB Glen Stanley

He looks explosive off the line and he has good instincts as to jumping the snap, most of his video though, the guy lined up across him looked way inferior, a few times he tackled a guy and stopped moving his feet, Lance will correct this.

I would have liked to seen highlights of him in pass coverage, looks as though he was just a rush specialist, nothing wrong with that and a very good pick-up for UT.

Great pick up, but do we really need this guy? We need OL recruits. Why are they so hard to come by?

He seems to take good angles, really good on stunts and rushing off the edge. Sorta reminds me of Al Wilson the way he moves, not saying he is the next coming of Al by anymeans, but that is just who popped into my head when I saw the video. Not overwhelming speed but quick with a capital "Q" and sheds blocks quickly and seems to have a great burst and initial move. I think this is a great pick up!!!! GO VOLS!!!!!!

Scout dropped J. Smith to a 4 Star after a great AA game. Go Figure...

I really love the kid... but he didn't play well in that game. He was pretty much man handled most of the day. I think there may be something to the idea that he plays LB instead of DE. If not, he'll have to get much stronger and add some weight.

checked out the video... how does a guy like this end up playing competition like that?

He belongs in a good conference. It looks like he's picking on middle-schoolers out there

Talent of that magnitude does not typically wind up at a junior college unless there were serious academic deficiencies coming out of high school. Hopefully, he will take fullest advantage of his opportunities, both on and off the field, at UT.

Wow! That's a pretty impressive video. I'm no tallent evaluater, but when a guy sheds blocks and runs in a straight line without hesitation to the ball carrier to make the tackle on a regular basis, that's a good thing.

V.B!

I've never seen anyone that can crack the snap count on a regular basis like this cat can. what an explosive player.

No, we really don't need any highly rated players who already have two years of experience and who can step in and help the team right away. Don't need them at all.

We do need OL recruits, but we need ones who can actually play. No point in wasting scholarships on players who can't help us, just because they are offensive linemen.

I'm sure Dooley is working on it, but he's not about to turn away a badass linebacker who wants to be a Vol.

We do have lots of linebackers at this point, some of which have shown quite a bit of potential. Is there any chance that Stanley could be used as a pass-rush defensive end? I noticed in his highlight reel that he was lined up as such a few times and seemed to come off the edge with a burst. In any case, another good pickup from DD!

I noticed when watching his youtube video that his timing with snaps is right on the money. He makes it to the backfield before anybody is set up to block it seems. This is a great pickup.

I thought the exact same thing. It's like the QB says "Hey #13, we're going on 2 " before every play.

Hopefully he doesn't have a tape full of plays where he is flagged for being offsides. But this looks like a nice pickup, he really brings a hammer to the backfield. I didn't see him in coverage but I'll assume he is able since he also plays safety.

/reminded me of the "Water Sucks" scene

Ok, either these 4 recruits who have committed in the last week were already on board before Kithead left or Dooley is just an amazing recruiter. Think about this everyone, we're back up to 11th and have had three 4*'s commit and one 3* since Dooley has came on board. And we don't even have a DC. This is truly impressive. Kids from AZ which means Dooley is using ties out there already. Just Dooley It!:clapping:

The article on GVX says 4.4 40, at 250 lbs,,,, so heck line him up at Fullback if you want and he can play both sides of the ball.

Stanley, an Ocala, Florida native, apparently wants to get closer to home, after a successful official visit to Rocky Top.

-Scout

I'm not sure why they think he chose UT to get closer to home when his home is in Ocala, FL. He had an offer from USF and was once committed to UCF.

He chose Tennessee because.......

"I've met a lot of coaches--a whole lot of coaches--and you know how you can just tell when someone is 'real' or not? Well coach Dooley is 'real.' The same goes for coach Thompson. Tennessee is a great situation for a lot of reasons, but the coaches were the main reason I went ahead and committed today."

-Rivals

Although I don't like players committing mainly due to the coaches, it is a good sign that Dooley is already making a good impression on recruits. You can tell if someone is a fake or not... Glen Stanley nailed that one on the head. Marlon Brown's grandma didn't trust Kiffin and Orgeron. She obviously saw something in them that the rest of us refused to see.
