What was with all the buzz around Phillips and Tennessee just recently? There was a lot of talk, but I don't know where it was coming from.

He's invited to the AAA game.

He's invited to the AAA game.

Every bit of it came from Blue Tick Vols on VQ. Nobody else has even mentioned him. I don't think it's true...

According to Rivals, Every member of UT's coaching staff sent him a letter last week, UT has made him a top priority, and they have moved in strong!

This staff is relentless.

I dont understand how they have so many top priorities. I mean they are going hard after so many prospects. How many schollies to we have left to give out again?

He is worth a scholarship... Would love to get him, but I think he stays with BC.

Wayne (N.J.) De Paul Catholic wide receiver Shakim Phillips has committed to Boston College, but that hasn't stopped other teams from trying to sway him. Pitt, Rutgers and North Carolina continue to recruit Phillips, and Tennessee has moved in strong. The Vols sent Phillips a hand-written letter from every member of the coaching staff this past week and have made him a priority.

He is coming up to BC this weekend on an unofficial to hang out with Chase Rettig on his official. Shakim,ATM anyway, is all BC.

I don't think it ends up being a major thing in most recruitments. In some you gte kids from catholic schools that choose BC or ND due to that, but it really isn't a huge recruiting tool. Right now guys like Matt Ryan,B.J. Raji, etc are our major ones as well as academics. You also have to look at it with guys like Richt at UGA and others like him that use their religion and strong belief to their advantage,so BC and ND don't really have an advantage. Mormon kids and BYU is totally different though. Most of their top commits are Mormon and went their due to that.

Everyone is apparently forgetting that being a Mormon school discourages non-Mormons (which are the vast majority of high school football players) from going there...
