Preseason selection for the Rivals 250

quote sourced from a 3/31 article---

I spoke to the Tennessee coach [on Monday]. He said that they're real interested in me, and they've heard good things about me. They just want to see my highlight tape.

On 4/2 he told Scout.com's Matt Alkire this---

I got an offer from Tennessee today. I called them from school and they had just seen my film and said they loved it, so they offered me a scholarship. I talked to Coach (James) Cregg and Coach Ed Orgeron and they just said they loved my explosiveness off the ball and the way I go after the ball.

I was really surprised by the offer and they have a great program playing against SEC competition. They have an outstanding history there and they put a lot of defensive linemen in the NFL which is a plus. They just brought in Coach Monte Kiffin to coach the defense, so that’s great because he ran awesome defenses with the Buccaneers and obviously knows what he’s doing, so with the great players they have down there they should do nice things.

He was spotted on campus today (4/4/09) during the weekend clinic.

I think for him to receive an offer and to show up for a clinic just days later suggests that he's very intrigued by the new staff and the program.

You don't hear of many NY kids playing high level football. Hopefully we can pick him up. He looks solid.

Staten Island? Shaolin?

He can come on board only if he brings the Wu Tang Clan as back up

new ESPNU update and Easley's claiming no favorites---

ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive end Dominique Easley spoke with affiliate Web site NittanyNetwork.com about the current status of his recruitment.

He said Penn State, Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Maryland, Oregon, Duke and Connecticut have offered "in writing."

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Under Armour All-American does not have a favorite at the moment.

Last fall, Easley registered 51 tackles, 10 sacks and two fumble recoveries (both returned for touchdowns). As a sophomore, he recorded 49 tackles, eight sacks and two fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown).

You guys can start a thread on this guy if you want, just wanted to pass along this tidbit:

Among the more than a dozen BCS conference programs offering Easley a scholarship are Florida, Michigan, Penn State and Tennessee. Both Rivals.com and ESPNU have Easley ranked among the top 150 high school recruits in the country.

With that lofty standing, Easley has accepted an invitation to play in the Under Armour All American game on Jan. 2, 2010 in Orlando, Fla., to be televised on ESPN.

"I have written offers from Syracuse, Connecticut, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Michigan, Rutgers, and Penn State," said Easley. "I do not have a top five at this time. I will commit next year, or over the summer. Moving isn't a problem. I want to move. My parents are ok with that."

"The best part of my game is I never stop pressuring to get to the ball," responded Easley. "I have a pretty good motor. I had 51 tackles and 10 sacks last season."

"I know Oregon plays in the Pac-10," answered Easley. "I know their facilities are great. I have heard about their D-line. I am interested in Oregon."
