Terrible news... Supposedly this was his senior trip, and all of his friends are in the hospital for shock right now

Awful, hate to see a young adult with so much ahead for them to have their life cut short. I have actually stayed at that exact DZ INN a couple of times during spring break and this isnt the first time someone has fallen from that hotel balcony if my memory serves me correct.

So tragic. My prayers go to his family. RIP Matt.

I have stayed at this Days Inn as well and I wanna say you're right BearCat.

I don't have an article. Just through people who know the kid from Cincinnatti. I'm sure they'll test for it in the autopsy.

Don't take offense to me not believing you. There are just too many people who are quick to jump to assumptions that alcohol was involved because this kid was 17 and in PCB. Let the doctors determine this for sure before the rumors starts is my take on it :hi:

MF 10 is telling the truth. I heard on ESPN radio that he was indeed drinking. ESPN's exact words were, "he was drunk and belligerent."
Regardless, its a very tragic situation. My prayers go out to his family.

Some poster on ESPN just posted He got what he deserved.

Why would anyone post something as heartless as that?

NO doubt, yeah he was drunk and acting a fool, but nobody DESERVES to die, especially at a young age.

From what I have heard from people who knew him closely is that he was indeed beligerant, and was attempting to start a fight with the people on the balcony next to him. They attempted to calm him down and succeeded until he began arguing with the people a balcony below him, where he lost his balance and fell over, with the railing not giving out, staying in full contact.

Such a sad story, I feel terrible for his family, friends, and the tight nit community that St. Xavier is. You have to feel for his best friends that saw this happen... that would be a sight you would never get out of your mind and have to live with the rest of your life
