and everyone (fans, sports media) pushed heavily for an LSU team that lost to Kentucky to go to the national championship a few years back.

Obviously a different situation. This year the stars just aligned for a Bama-LSU rematch.

in reality, there's too wide a gap in the computer polls (more than anything else) for Ok St to fully catch up, much less pass

you'd likely have to drop bama a few places as well

Because the bcs is broken. Say Bama wins the game, who is the NC?

Bama.

The Patriots beat the Giants in like week 15(something like that) when they went 18-0. Then they lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

I know that's different but same concept.

That is crazy. I would think it would be split, say Bama bcs and lsu the ap.
Just shows you the system is broken.

The AP is really just over glorified paper at this point though anyway.

(I'm not even sure the AP gives any sort of trophy or things to its top team)

Exactly.

I also think Ok st might be a big of a case towards why playing a random thurs or fri game is a bad idea...they looked out of it all of that game; not uncommon for a short week team
