Is that John Madden's long lost son? He looks just like him when he coached the Oakland Raiders.

Hey, we have a connection there.

I like me some Big White Boys...
Butch Davis is going to go after him hard I would imagine.
Kid is good, had an invite to the Army All American Combine/Game, but had family plans.

"I really enjoyed the visit a lot, everything went great," Liefheit said. "The biggest thing for me was just the coaches, being able to hang out with them and watch them work.

"They're all high energy guys with NFL experience. Watching them interact and jump around and everything at practice was kind of crazy. The coaches were really into it."

"I spent a lot of time talking to those two (Chaney and Gregg). They're both pretty impressive," Leifheit offered. "They obviously know what they're talking about, and as a player, you always want to think about going somewhere that can prepare you for the next level."

"I got to spend a lot of time with coach Kiffin just hanging out in his office watching film and talking," Leifheit said of one of the highlights of his trip. "That was really cool. Being so much younger than most of the other head coaches you see I think he can probably relate to me better and I think from talking to the players that it's easier for them to talk to him and stuff.

"It's different to see such a young guy as the head coach, but he's so energetic and stuff."

"I don't have a top-five or any favorites right now," Leifheit said of the recruiting game. "I'm going to keep taking visits and see as many of the schools I'm interested in as a I can and then I'll narrow things down this summer."

What are the chances that he'll be back in Knoxville this fall as an official visitor?

"I can't say anything for sure, but right now I would say that's a very strong possibility," Liefhelt said of where the Vols stand in his still evolving pecking order.

Also says he wants to commit before the end of October and enroll in college in January...

Haha. I love the comments about how fast an OL runs the 40-yard dash. Yeah that is very important in the evaluation.

T.J. Leifheit isn't as well-known among North Carolina prospects as, say, Chapel Hill High's Robert Crisp, but that could be about to change. Crisp, the state's No.1 offensive lineman, is basically off the board with his commitment to N.C. State. That leaves the 6-foot-7, 300-pound Leifheit as the highest-rated in-state O-lineman--and by a wide margin. Leifheit plays at Wilmington Hoggard High, where he is coached by former Charlottean Scott Braswell. He has never been a sleeper--he's No.11 on The Observer's Top 25 N.C. Prospects list. But he has quietly been garnering more and more attention. Now it seems as if recruiters from just about everywhere have him in their sites. "I think his top three are North Carolina, Tennessee and California, and they have all offered scholarships," said Braswell. "He also likes Ohio State and Florida but they haven't offered yet." Leifheit also has offers from Southern Cal, South Carolina, N.C. State, Duke, ECU and Wake Forest among others, Braswell said.

"I'm working on getting back up there for a visit," Leifheit said. "I've been up once and I really enjoyed it a lot. I really liked the campus and town. The coaches were full of energy and running around all over the place. They are definitely up there."

T J LEIFHEIT, OL, 6-7, 300, 5.3, WILMINGTON (HOGGARD), NORTH CAROLINA

T J has more than 25 offer below he comment on a few teams.

“I have three teammates who play up there (North Carolina) from high school. I’ve been up there a ton of times and I have a good relationship with Coach Pittman. I just feel comfortable at North Carolina and it’s only a two hour drive.” Leifheit said

Ohio State Fan

“I’m actually an Ohio State fan,” says Leifheit, “I just liked them since I was a little kid. Ohio State was a just a team I followed when I was young and liked the ever since. The environment at game day seems pretty good they win every year and play for national championships.”

Trip To California

“I went to USC for a practice with my dad on a four day trip.” says Leifheit, “It was an awesome trip. I talked to the coaches and they seem real nice. USC will definitely get an official.”

“It seems like everyone who plays there (USC) you against the best guys in front of you and the guys behind you. You’re going against the best players and make you the best player you can be.” Leifheit said

“Desire To Win”

“I liked Tennessee,” says Leifheit, “I went there for a spring practice. They were getting at it pretty hard. I liked the energy down there with all the young coaches they are all fired up and a desire to win.”

“They (Florida) send a lot of guys to the NFL and I also have family down in Florida. It would be a lot easier for my family to go to the games down there.” Leifheit said

“Distance isn’t a factor my family would see me where I play. One thing I’m looking for is early playing time looking at charts and stuff. Education is number one for me and then it would be probably be coaching, playing time, facilities.” Leifheit said

His quotes on other schools are more flattering, but we def fit is criteria of what he is looking for. Plus we are closer to his family than UF or USC. Hopefully, a QB commit will bring him our way.

He is down to seven and they are, in no order, Southern Cal, UNC, NC State, LSU, Florida, Tennessee and Florida State. UNC still seems to be the favorite here but not nearly as much as they used to be.
