I think we need to help Cam Akers make the right choice. I can think of a few reasons he should choose Tennessee. Maybe others can add more.

  1. Tennessee campus and football program is very often noted by the players for it's family atmosphere. (Look at the NFL talent that want play in the upcoming bowl game for one last time with their VFL brothers)
  2. Opening available at RB. Jump right into the rotation.
  3. CBJ has no problem putting freshmen on the field.
  4. If mama Akers wants her son away from the big city environment and all the distractions that come with that , Knoxville is an awesome city in beautiful location. Just look at how many former players and alumni, not from Knoxville, make their home there.
  5. Regardless of the criticism CBJ got for his "Champions of Life" statement, I believe it absolutely represents his sincere goal for his players. To not just succeed on the football field but, also in the classroom, in the community, and in life. He truly cares about his players and doesn't hide that.
  6. Don't let the location fool you, Florida State and Tallahassee are not part of the South.
  7. Florida State is not part of SEC.
  8. Ole Miss has a NCAA cloud hanging over them. How long and how severe?
  9. Tennessee gets as much or more TV time that almost any other team in college football.
  10. Tennessee fans are as loyal and passionate as you will find. We've been selling out Neyland stadium for as long as it's been there and very often exceed the 102,455 seating capacity.

Bonus: And not even on the list, you'll meet and possibly become friends with the GOAT and VFL Peyton Manning.

You might not want to say that our fans are Loyal especially if Cam reads Volnation!!!:)

I sort of look at "loyal" as dedicated to Tennessee. They may be lifelong NegaVols but, they never leave.

I'll give you that, but Loyal is a bad choice of words. They aren't always loyal like a dog to its owner. They turn on the team, the coaches and the administration very quickly.:)

The biggest reason is :

You are not going to get same respect as a Running back with your yards as you would get in SEC. Texas RB rushed for 2200 yards this year. Media and scouts like him but all they also keep saying 'could he do that against teams like Alabama, Florida etc. SEC has the best defenses.

Among SEC teams Akers likes, TN and Ole Miss have the best situation right now.
Both play tough schedule and both need RBs where Akers can start immediately.
Ole Miss has NCAA could. TN, regardless of Butch's status, is a place where Akers can immediately start.

The few that aren't loyal, well they are just a few. Gripe and complain Sunday thru Friday, but on Saturday, show up loud and proud for the men in Orange.

It's great to be a Tn Vol!

Loyalty should not be confused with blind devotion. However, there should be a limit to complaining without providing a) any facts that substantiate those complaints or b) any positive suggestions to improve the situation.

Your chances of winning a National Championship are better at UT than any other school.

Your role will be key to making UT football great again!

Mr. Akers,

How about 100,000+ rednecks screaming your name in person and more on national television as you run up the score on Alabama, Florida and Georgia?

And 0 reasons why this needs its own thread.
