1. Nepotism rocks. For all the wailing and gnashing of teeth when Tony Bennett and Sean Sutton succeeded their fathers, the results speak for themselves. Combined record:29-3.
2. There isn't a better coach in America than John Bielein. He loses roughly 179% of his scoring and rebounding from last year. His response? The Mountaineers are in the top 30.
3. The Pac 10 is awfully good. Removing the disasters that are Arizona State and Oregon State from the equation, every team in the league is at least solid and competitive.
4. Missouri State is seriously good. After being arguably shafted by the selection committee last year, the Bears have set out to remove all doubt about their inclusion in this year's field. A win over Wisconsin on a neutral floor speaks volumes about this team.
5. Georgetown can't win big because they have no guards. Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green are doomed to postseason irrelevance by the shoddy backcourt work the Hoyas are receiving.
6. Conference USA is dismal. Memphis is the only team in that league that can legitimately claim to be in the Top 50.
7. The curse of Nancy Zimpher is in full effect at Cincinnati. I like Mick Cronin, I think he will eventually put a good team on the floor. That said, the product the Bearcats are currently putting on the floor is a disgrace to a proud basketball heritage.
8. The Mountain West is very underrated. Air Force and UNLV are both Top 40 teams. The rest of the league is competitive.
9. Winthrop is going to win their first round NCAA tournament game. Gregg Marshall's best team will deliver the long awaited NCAA victory to Rock Hill.
10. Kansas, UNC, Florida, and Ohio State are on another level than the rest of the country talentwise. If 3 of the 4 aren't playing on the final weekend, there will have been at least 2 major upsets.
