After a day of wandering around the French Quarter, here are my thoughts at 6:19 central;
1. Why doesn't the SEC rotate the Championship Game between Atlanta and New Orleans?
2. New Orleans, post-Katrina, is comparable to Pearl Jam. The loyalists who really love the city still travel to the Big Easy. The trendy, hipster doofuses don't.
3. Reggie Bush is the modern day George Rogers. Everyone here thinks he's going to change the franchise's fate.
4. The Acme Oyster House has taken Peyton's UT jersey down and replaced it with Eli's Ole Miss jersey. The Crescent City does love the Mannings.
5. Big Al Carson is still the King of Bourbon Street.
6. Unless I misread the apparel trends here, there are a surprising number of UT fans in New Orleans.
7. How can anyone think Drew Brees is a great NFL QB?
8. Talking to associates down here whose opinion I really respect, Auburn and LSU are going to be very, very good.
9. Why isn't Tabasco Mayo mandatory on every sandwich in America?
10. Bourbon Street merchants spend the entire year praying for a Tennessee appearance in the Sugar Bowl.
It appeared the Ritz was conducting business as usual. I doubt it received much Katrina damage. The Quarter as a whole didn't take that severe a hit.1. I'd like to see it rotate as well. Nashville, Memphis, Jacksonville, and even Birmingham wouldn't be that bad one year at a time. For the record, I also enjoy rotating the SECT in basketball better than the 4 year stints in Atlanta, but I understand the economics of domed stadiums, so I doubt that will significantly change.
2. I like New Orleans. Has the Ritz Carlton on Canal reopened yet?
4. The gumbo in the bread bowl is very, very good.
8. LSU and Auburn will be good. So will UGA and Florida. UT and Bama might. Kentucky will suck. Such is the fate of the SEC.
9. The peacemaker may be the world's best sandwich. I don't remember if it is at Acme or at Felix's though.
10. So do I.
Hat, I cannot believe we are in basic agreement on this many things. Maybe I am getting soft.

Ahhh yes. And one of the worst piano bars ever. I do believe it is the oldest watering hole in the US. Or at least that is what they claim. Damn, sometimes I really miss the quarter.Yes. The darkest establishment in all the world. If you like well lit bars, don't bother venturing in to the Blacksmith.
