I know that TN has shown some interest in this kid at some point. He has been tearing it up of late. He led the Spartans to a State Championship victory over Maryville by rushing for 273 yards, scoring 4 touchdowns, and creating 2 turnovers (1 int w/ a 41 yrd return). Named offensive and Defensive MVP in title game.

He has had no offers at this point according to rivals. I would expect that to change soon, with Memphis needing a lot of help.

Doubt this kid makes it to the TN board, but thought I would share since he is an instate kid.

Sounds like a solid kid.

This brings up another question I have if anyone would like to give their input:

I wonder why more athletes in TN aren't prepared and good enough to go to teams such as TN? Are there more emphasis put on sports in other states? Just curious: I didn't know if other states done a better job of developing them younger (camps, etc.) or maybe just because of the larger pool to pull from.

that kids a pretty good athlete.. but i think he'd be a little better off going to a slightly smaller school. (not sure how much playing time he'd get at UT)

Question: Is it possible to delete a post?
I accidentially submitted the post twice and now I need to delete it.

I just now tried editing this post and deleting everything but it wouldn't work that way.

Tennessee only has 4-5 schools that hire football coaches and not teachers that coach football. Thats why Scott Blade left Hillsboro for Oakridge. Oakridge has a booster club that basically pays the coaches salaries, therefore he only coaches football. Texas is full of schools like that as is florida and Cali. Climate also plays a role. Florida, Cali and most of Texas have climates that allow outside sports year round. It is what it is!!!

6'5" with a 4.47 - 40 WOW...What postition is he currently playing?
WR, Monroe HS had just dropped from 2A to 1A this season. If he was at Independence or Butler HS, he would be at least a 3 star if not higher. I think he was more of a track guy at first.

Is this true? No wonder fb is so awful in the Volunteer state. Can't have a great team without a great coach.

think he would walk on?

No. I did a little digging to try and find out some info. Everything appears that he is apparently a kid that was a late bloomer to some degree and just overlooked to another.

His recruiting has picked up of late apparently.

Yes Memphis probably will offer, but TN shouldn't overlook this kid, He only thrashed one of the best teams in the whole state of TN.

Only partially true. There are a lot of great high school coaches in the state. However, not many places in Tennessee have a developed Pop Warner league. If they do, it consists of just a few teams.

Kids in Florida, South Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas play all the time and get good coaching from an early start.

It is true to an extent, but don't be too misled. Many of the football coaches that are teachers are driver's ed or PE teachers. Football coaches are taken advantage of for the most part. One more obvious point that may not be popular to say is that we aren't a very populated state and outside of memphis don't have any high urban/ african american areas.... and unlike basketball, football is a sport that benefits when you have a system in place starting when you are really young and can work your way up to. Memphis doesn't really have that, which is why memphis is much more of a basketball area than football.

Edit: Dawson beat me to it by 3 hours, haha.

this kids build reminds me of javier arenas. he could be the next randall cobb, and by that i mean the next instate that "got away". imo kiffin should AT LEAST recruit him to walk on.

I Do not post much. This kid is still an option. He almost single handedly beat Maryville for White Station this year. Defensive and offensive MVP in the state championship. (TN) Also punted inside the ten twice.
Maryville coach coached AA game and was dominated by him. Real deal. We will regret not offering.
Listed as WR by rivals but obviously he can play anywhere.

His offers are LA Tech, Memphis, and MTSU. None of those are relevant enough to make UT regret passing on him regardless of how he does at any of those schools.

If we have offers left, I would take a flyer on a 3* guy that runs a 4.4. 40. He may be small, but we could always use speed.

I am not sure those are his only offers. His interest has picked up considerably lately. I do not know that we are taking SEC level interest, but I know that it has picked up.

ATM, I think he is Memphis bound.

I did not realize that he had an offer from LA Tech. Obviously Dooley knows about him. Really, RB, DB, WR, 3rd punter, 4.4 forty. Diamond in the rough. I do not know anything, I just like this guy. I guess that we will see.
