Can I get an AMEN?

I am all fired up. These athletes along with the STAR staff are going to put us back on the upper echelon of college football, mark it!

He commited to us today as well, but it is for 2010. This is huge for next year.

He may start at a rivals 4 but will end up a rivals 5 as long as he stays healthy.

Good news....but a verbal commit, as we all have seen this recruiting cycle, means absolutely nothing.

Great pick up but can we keep him up until next years NSD!?!?

Heard Jake Heaps ( 2010 top rated QB ) is suppose to be on campus this month & that he wants to commit somewhere as soon as he can to get it over with. Would it not be nice to pick him up also?? :D

would be nice, although the whole 2 year mission trip thing is kind of a downer...

Excellent news, and unexpected on 2009 NSD. I hope that we can keep him...that is some serious home-grown talent that shouldn't be given any reasons to play elsewhere...let's keep him at home!

He must have really enjoyed the visit this past weekend and liked what he was told and saw. I was so focused on ths years class the last few days, I didn't even think to check on his visit.

Jaquez Smith on Basilio:

Committed early because of Kiffin's "amazing plan" that he really buys into. He didn't know if he was that good of a player, but was very flattered and shocked to immediately hear from Kiffin, the night after he got the job.

Had a basketball game the night he first heard from Kiffin so had his phone cut off, had 12 missed calls from the Vol staff.

Did not grow up a Tennessee fan, wasn't interested in sports until he was a teenager, became a fan of the Vols at about 13.

Said it wasn't really a heartbreaker when he heard Fulmer was canned.

This time next year he predicts the Vols will sign 20 guys as good as him. Looks forward to helping with next year's recruiting efforts.

There wasn't much difference between the recruiting approach of this staff and Fulmer's, said very honest and family atmosphere, although the new staff are better salesmen, he says. No pressue from Lane to commit.

Very humble, polite, and well spoken.
