Jaquez Smith on Basilio:
Committed early because of Kiffin's "amazing plan" that he really buys into. He didn't know if he was that good of a player, but was very flattered and shocked to immediately hear from Kiffin, the night after he got the job.
Had a basketball game the night he first heard from Kiffin so had his phone cut off, had 12 missed calls from the Vol staff.
Did not grow up a Tennessee fan, wasn't interested in sports until he was a teenager, became a fan of the Vols at about 13.
Said it wasn't really a heartbreaker when he heard Fulmer was canned.
This time next year he predicts the Vols will sign 20 guys as good as him. Looks forward to helping with next year's recruiting efforts.
There wasn't much difference between the recruiting approach of this staff and Fulmer's, said very honest and family atmosphere, although the new staff are better salesmen, he says. No pressue from Lane to commit.
Very humble, polite, and well spoken.
