'10 TN TE Harrison Jones

The younger brother of Alabama offensive tackle Barrett Jones, tight end/wide receiver Harrison Jones (Memphis, Tenn./Evangelical Christian), is a prospect to watch for the Class of 2010 in the Volunteer State.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder has the frame to add good weight at the next level. He camped at North Carolina, Alabama and Notre Dame this past summer and drew strong reviews at all of the events he went to.

The Tar Heels, along with Stanford, have issued early scholarship offers.

The 16-year-old is interested in Alabama, where his father also played, but is keeping an open mind with his college choice.

By A Bone. Alabama has offered, and Jones will visit the Tide for junior day. He doesn't have any favorites but also like Ole Miss, Tennessee, Vandy, Georgia and Oklahoma

I think the no offer from TN is a good decision. Watching this kid in person, I was not real impressed. I felt like he got a lot of hype because of his older brother. The kid has terrible hands and seems to really not like contact.

I think he will go to UNC. I once overheard his dad say that they love the "christian" atmosphere that Davis and crew were selling. He mentioned that the recruiter had told them that Davis had a zero tolerance for foul language and that players would be of the team should they be caught using it. Apparently he believed it hook, line, and sinker. Anyway, I do not think that Alabama is pressing the kid that hard and he will have a better shot to play elsewhere.

Harrison Jones is in no way a Top 10 prospect in the state of Tennessee IMO.

He will be a lifetime backup if he goes to a decent program.

I think he is underrated. Offers from Nick Saban, Bob Stoops, Bobby Bowden, Butch Davis and Houston Nutt. That's a pretty good list. Not to mention Bobby Johnson who took Vanderbilt to a bowl game and Jim Harbaugh who appears to be doing good things at Stanford. Anyways, Oklahoma and Alabama are at the top right now so that has to say a little about this kid. He is a nice mismatch. He's too big for db's to cover and I think he'll be faster than a lot of linebackers. Will be disappointing if he turns out to be a Dallas Clark or Jason Witten. Oh well... we have Delvin Jones. Hopefully he turns out to be a force at tight end.

FWIW, I have heard most of his "claimed" offers are not legit.

Interesting. Had not heard that. Not saying you're wrong, just hadn't heard it. Either way, he did get an offer from Nick Saban and Alabama as we know. That's still a good coach and *swallows* good school. Good school and Alabama should never be in the same sentence. :p

True, but they probably offered him because he's a legacy recruit because of dad and brother. Fulmer was known to do that too with guys like Kent, Carson Anderson, etc...
