"Kentucky is really nice and I like Georgia. I grew up a Tennessee fan," he said. "I'm just getting letters from those two. However, I have been going to Tennessee games since I was six or seven years old. If they offered, that'd be crazy."
from a Rivals article dated May 29th.

Defensive Player of the Year: Tyler Robinson, Alcoa : Football : Knoxville News Sentinel

I heard before camp that he would get an offer as a center. Not sure if he did anything at camp to change that.

yeah, thats what i thought. i heard something about his speed not being where the coaches wanted it. i dont think it would be too hard for him to bulk up a little more and hed have some quick feet for an OLman.

I think we are recruiting Jose Jose to be a center, since he projects to operate best when he doesn't have to move alot.

Reports from camp said he impressed against Ash and others, and that Coach Cregg took him into his office for a talk after his performance. Any word if he got an offer or not? He might be another surprisingly good pick up.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was offered or is soon. I would watch what Georgia does with him as well though. I'm not so sure he would commit as soon as offered. They may try and get him to commit to them before they offer like they did with Fugate -- I'm not certain.

Alcoa High School rising senior tight end/defensive lineman Tyler Robinson picked up his second Division I offer when Virginia Tech contacted him on Wednesday.

But Robinson wanted to see it in writing. He got the letter Saturday in the mail to match the one he received from Kentucky in late April.

If he held his own against Ash and Johnson, who are excellent DL, I'd let him play TE on run downs and put someone else in to catch passes, if their so concerned about his speed. Can't let all the solid instate talent go elsewhere.

Anyone know the story with this kid? He obviously wants to play for the Vols. He is also willing to play center or wherever they need him.

“I wish if they were going to offer me that they would go ahead and do it just because I’ve wanted to go there forever,” said Robinson, the News Sentinel’s eighth-best prospect in the state. “I hope they’re not being like ‘He’s a hometown boy. We can wait until the last minute.”

“I’ve been a Tennessee fan my whole life,” Robinson said. “It sucks that the other schools have offered me already and they (the Vols) haven’t, but hopefully it will come pretty soon.”

“They said I really showed out there,” Robinson said. “…I’ve been talking to Tennessee a lot. I’ve been to two of their camps. They seem to like me whole lot.

“Still no offer but they’ve been talking to me a lot so hopefully that will come soon.”

Robinson has played tight end, defensive end, defensive tackle and long snapper. He would prefer to play tight end in college but he’s realistic. He’ll play whatever position will get him on the field.

“If center can get me on the field faster, I’ll play center,” Robinson said. “I’m not the fastest tight end but I’m a fast center.”

This kid bleeds orange.....I love recruits like this. Kids like this will give it there all on the field! I guess sometimes having heart isn't good enough to see the field though.

Other schools are snooping around, including the home state Volunteers. But now that the season has started, Robinson says the only visit he has scheduled is to Lexington.

Kentucky was the first offer for the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Robinson, and is another Tennessee product that has developed a relationship with UK assistant Randy Sanders. Sanders was able to convince Cobb to come to Kentucky last season, even though the Volunteers offered late in the game and made Cobb waver a bit.

"I am waiting a little bit before I commit," Robinson stated. "It's not that I'm waiting on Tennessee to offer or anything like that, but I want to be sure of my feelings before I give my commitment to anyone. And now that the season has started, I would like to play well enough to hear from everybody."
