Are you sure?

You seem like a stomper to me...lol

Nah.

I would get "huffy" when I got irritated in school. Per my teachers.

Well I take that back, I did stomp that time I caught on fire. Hell of a experience.

Two questions:

Were you wearing $100 boots?

How much alcohol was involved?

No Merrill's at that time. There was some jack involved. Another guy at the party threw gas on the fire while I was standing next to it
( he was mad because my ex- whom he was dating-was hanging out with me)

I was about 20 at the time. 2nd degree burn about the size of a football. A spot the size of a half dollar burned to the bone. Didn't go to the dr until 24 hours later. Leg was green. They tied me down on a steel bed and scrub if clean. They heard me screaming the entire hospital floor.

Burning flesh is a smell you never forget especially when you see it running down your leg.

Stop drop and roll didn't work and the irony is they finally put me out with the beer cooler.

Oh, btw, the Wolverines I wear at work are pretty comfortable, steel toe and all. I wear a pair of light grey mid-cut hiker Hudson model. $89 was the price on the shoe truck, not sure retail but probably close.

Red Wings or Sketchers

I'm 63 and I've owned Wolverines, Herman Survivors, Sketchers, Brownings, Dingos, &etc.

Sketchers makes a great blond ankle boot I got for $99, but the best of them all as far as my usage is the Red Wing.

Don't get the Sketchers unless you're wearing a pair of sock liners under a pair of heavy hiker WigWam socks. They are not forgiving, but rugged as hell and dry as a bone.

Nothing compares to the simple, complete functionality of the RedWings with the big fiberglass/composite toe box. I wore a pair every stinkin day for 4 years in eng design/construction at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. Climed all over and in it, up & down. Been retired since 2011 .. wear them for yard work and hiking, and still can't wear em out. Have a pair of Converse 'Desert Boots' and some multi material modern hiking boots. Don't wear em, always go for the comfort and protection of the Red Wings, especially when hitting the high mountain trails in the Smokies. Get their better insole to go with them. Screw the $100..their just brogans, but you'll have these for years and years.

I swear by Vasque. I had a set going on five years old until the dog decided to use them as a chew toy.

As far as I'm concerned the Breeze GTX is the pinnacle of hiking/casual boot.

Went through 3 pairs of Vasque over a 10 year period. I wore them almost everyday. May last pair I wore holes in the sole hiking in Yellowstone. Ive still got thrm in a box somewhere. I couldnt bring mysef to throw thrm out.

Currently on Keen.

I'm into uninsulated Carolinas these days, I was always a fan of the USA made Chippewas, as the Chinese are crap, but the price per pair crept up to $300, too much for something that'll be destroyed in a year at most. I get the Carolinas at a local Army/Navy for $115 and they're comfortable and durable. Not quite the quality of the Chippewas, but I'll deal with that seeing the price difference.

I tried on a couple of pairs of Keen before and didn't get a good feeling on them. Vasque out of the box are practically broken in for my feet already.

Plus I'm not a huge fan of Keen's styling.
