Vandy fans were calling in and wondering if Franklin was going to take the Penn St. job. I think they are already scared is he going to jump ship. What are the Volnation thoughts about this? If Penn St. wants him that must say something. Is he a viable candidate for UT if Dooley doesn't work out? BTW I hope Dooley does.

Laughable. I heard this too. Vanderbilt fans are insufferable. They win 4 or 5 games and all of sudden their coach is on his way to replace one of the most recognizable, successful coaches of all time.

Please.

penn state is going to have a more difficult time finding a coach than most people think.

They will clean house, probably use an interim coach for a while, and hire a great coach. It's still a top level job. The situation right now is just too tumultuous.

in all honesty guys I know that penn state is a very legendary and historic football program, but do you honestly see a proven coach going within 100 miles of that place? The recruits will not stick. Hell some of the players will probably want out. What happend there was the sickest event in college athletics that I can ever remember and I would not want my name associated with that program if i was a coach

If Vandy was undefeated right now, then James Franklin could probably walk into any job he wanted. As it stands, he needs to prove he can win at least 6-7 games on a consistent basis there. I think he'll stick around for another year or two. Then it's back to the Dark Ages for the 'Dores.

If the Vandy admin & fans don't support Franklin, he will use Vandy as a stepping stone when a better job is offered to him.
Vandy has a score board that is equal to some of the high school score boards. They need a serious upgrade on their stadium. If Franklin is able to get top 150 recruits to visit Vandy but they leave un-impressed, then the admin is not supporting him by upgrading the facilities.
If teams like Florida, UGA, O Bama come to Vandy and the stadium is not full, then the fans are not supporting the program. What is a top 150 recruit came to visit Vandy and only 2/3 of the seats were full and they had a 1970's stadium and a high school score board? I am sure that recruit would leave Vandy and not look back.

he's done the best job recruiting anyone could do at vandy. But whether or not vandy upgrades their facilities or not not, they're still going to be vandy.

Does Franklin have any connection to Happy Valley?

He better jump at the first job opportunity he gets before he gets the "look".

One day it will hit Franklin that Vandy is not going to give him the support he needs to build a 6 or 7 win program on a consistant basis.

Vandy could be Stanford with the right coach and administration. It seems that they've never really cared about football, like Northwestern.

I don't care if he has ties to Al Qaeda. I think he is the perfect fit for a school that will forever be known by many as Child Molester U.

Vandy has very little chance of ever being mentioned athletically in the same breath as Stanford. It could also be said they have no chance to ever be mentioned in the same breath academically as Stanford.
