If not Auburn then Bama, surprised people to commit to the Barn because he was a Bama fan all his life.

Saban gave him a deadline to commit and if he didn't commit by that date his offer was goin to be pulled. He didn't like it so he went to the Barn.

There are all sorts of rumors with this one. Apparantly he wanted more of show for his services and did not get it. He scheduled a press conference to announce. At which his brother and mother were there wearing UA gear and when he commited to the Barn neither one clapped or smiled. It was actually a funny video.

You can probably take UA out of the offer list if he does not stay with the Barn. Since he was unhappy with the lack of attention he decided to say some very negative things about UA and Saban, so I doubt there is still an offer for him out there. Anything can happen but good luck with him if you guys go after him.

obviously not, since he's not committed. Y'all, like the Gators, never lose a recruit. You just pull schollys.

I am confused here, but he is verbally commited to the Barn in case you did not know. Since you have not followed the story apparantly let me give you some insight here. We were recruiting him to come to UA. He was offered a scholarship, but was told to make sure he wanted to be at UA before he commited. He was not happy with whatever. He scheduled a press conference with family members to announce. In several interviews the week leading up to the press conference he said that UA was leading and he could not see himself playing anywhere else because he grew up as a UA fan and so did his familiy. His family showed up to the event dressed in UA attire. Now he was offered a scholly but he had never commited to us, but at the start of the press conference he announced he was decommiting from UA and going to the Barn. Again he had never commited to UA but UA wanted him. Scholly was never pulled he decided to go elsewhere and so why keep a scholly out there for him when I feel pretty confident someone else will take it.

So yes we(UA) wanted him, but he went to the Barn. We lost a battle instate and I am sure it will happen again. No big deal except a fan such as yourself finds solace in it. Enjoy the moment. BTW the Barn will get more instate recruits this year then UA.

Most awkward signing announcement ever. Not to mention doing a press conference a year before NSD. Along with his parents sporting Bama gear. Something went sour here between Bama and Region. That sucks. We wanted the kid, but something happened and Auburn out-recruited us on this one.

Thanks for the insight. By not committed, I meant not committed to Alabama. Hence the need to say that he is not being offered to save face, which was my point.

Excellent. I like the attitude, keep it up.

Its nothing personal, its just not an Alabama board.

He didn't say that to save face. He meant it as, after Region committed to Auburn, there was a falling out between Region and the Bama coaches. Thes Bama pulled the scholly and won't allow Region to change his mind and sign with Bama now.

He made it clear that Auburn beat Bama out for him.

Region, who continues to pick up scholarship offers, recently received one from Tennessee. He plans to visit there next weekend, but says that he is firmly committed to Auburn.

Per Scout...

He will be at Junior Day.

I think UT has a great shot at this kid. For what ever happen between him and UA is why I think he picked the Barn so quick but now is regretting that decision. His verbal to the Barn is very soft if that IMO.

Thanks for the info. You're one of the few (on my list) that provides insight and value with you're posts... just have to overlook the occasional vol fan that gets a little protective of the VN forum.

You are, by far, the most reasonable alabama fan I have ever encountered. Kudos.

Thanks. I try and keep a good head on my shoulders. Especially about recruiting, I mean, there is so many variables and it's such a fluid situation at all times that you never know whats going down. If you lose a kid, you gotta admit the other school did something that you couldn't for the kid and move on. We might not want Spencer Region now because of all the hooplah, but we did at one point. We wanted him enough to give him a commitable offer this early in recruiting, and we lost him to Auburn. However, I think he might end up somewhere else besides Auburn (and I dont mean Alabama).

I also get that sense. The feeling around here is that he committed to Auburn more out of spite to alabama than anything.

Nice call TW Region just changed his status from an AU commit to undecided...

“I’m not sure that Auburn’s offense is the right fit for me. They like to pull a lot and get guys out in space, and I feel like I’m more of a pro-style lineman. Right now I’m going to take a step back, take a little more time and make sure I make the best decision for me.”

Did he ever make it in for junior day?

Interesting news. I think he realized that he acted on emotion and made a mistake. Does he end up at Bama? Who knows? But at least he was mature enough to realize he needs to think this process through and not make a decision out of spite.

Of course he was at their spring game since he already commited but to be honest his first choice was UA and Saban did not think he was ready to commit and told him to be sure and look around first. He got upset about that when he tried to commit and then jumped the gun and said some very negative things about UA during his press conference when commiting to AU. If you go to any UA board right now the majority of the fans do not want him.

He is sort of a drama queen. The funny part is he is now doing exactly what Saban told him to do and looking arouund. He is also attending UA's camp this summer where alot feel if he has cleaned the slate with UA and does well they will offer him again. Remember right now he does not have a legit offer from UA after his commitment and comments.

He is a legit player but caution now with early commits and than decommiting is also a concern. There is also rumors about alot of interest with him and Texas at this point and Texas is one of the many schools he will probably camp at and visit.

Personally I have never liked him. I agree that he committed to AU out of spite for the way Saban was treating him which (and I despise Saban) was completely professional on Saban's part. I wasn't surprised when he decommitted and I wouldn't be surprised if UA didn't take him back and I kind of hope they don't. It would be fitting. Ironically, his brief commitment to AU actually helped them secure O'Reilly and Dismukes, both of whom seem solidly committed.

I agree. To me the kid is kind of a head case. Already too full of himself and egotistical. His personality kind of reminds me of Tony Mandarich.

Yeah Dismukes was the kid I really liked but his family is so deep with Auburn connections I really doubt UA had any chance or any other team for that matter.

It sounds as if he's going to leave the state of Alabama. After his stunt with the coaching staff at Alabama, all he would ever get was a greyshirt offer. The word now is that he'll commit to Texas.
