For some reason, Miami was slow to offer four-star S Robenson Therezie of Florida even though he plays in the Canes' backyard. But since a late-May offer, The U has been steadily climbing Therezie's list. Now he tells Nate Adelson of ESPN affiliate InsidetheU.com that Miami indeed sits atop his final five, which is rounded out by Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Auburn.
Therezie said he will take officials to all five schools before announcing, and that early playing time will be the biggest factor in his decision. In that regard, the Canes may be at a disadvantage, with rising sophomores Ray Ray Armstrong and Vaughn Telemaque and redshirt freshman Jamal Reid as their top three safeties.
"My thing is that I want to play pretty much right away," said Therezie, who hasn't been to Coral Gables since camping there in 2009. "To be honest, staying close for college doesn't really matter. I could stay close, but I don?t feel like it?s something that I have to do."
Perhaps the coaches could convince Therezie that at least one of the aforementioned safeties will enter the draft early, which could open up a starting position for Therezie after a one-year apprenticeship.
