Scout.com: Jeff Heuerman Profile

Naples Barron Collier TE Jeff Heuerman plays in a spread based run attack, that limits his opportunities in the passing game. The 6'5, 220 pound player has terrific receiving skills however and is still young physically.

The top TE is Collier's Jeff Heuerman. He holds multiple BCS offers right now, including a recent offer from Tennessee. At 6'5, 225 he has prototype size, Heuerman plays in a spread offense that likes to run the ball, he is an outstanding blocker already. He has surprised this off-season as a receiver, he possesses great ball skills and more speed than he is given credit for.

One of the top pass-catching tight ends in all of Florida among juniors last season, he has impressive size and soft hands. He runs pretty well for a big kid, too. It’s no surprise that he already has some BCS-level offers. He has athletic bloodlines, too, as his father played basketball at Michigan. Look for his offer sheet to continue growing into the spring and summer. He will likely emerge as one of the state’s top tight end prospects this year.

Per Scout...

He just received a Vol offer. He was at Junior Day this weekend.

He needs to add some weight he is a little on the thin side. How big was Stocker coming out of HS?

"My dad is a lawyer, my grandfather is a lawyer, we are a family full of lawyers,” Heuerman said. “I like the fact that Coach Dooley is a lawyer. He is very organized and knows exactly what he wants"

“They are definitely my top favorite right now,” Heuerman said. “I keep in touch with their coaching staff. I talk to them every three or four days.”

“I won’t say I was close to committing but Tennessee will be hard to beat for me,” Heuerman explained. “I have been telling the Vol coaches that I will make a decision in early June. I want to make sure it’s the right choice for me. Once I make a decision I won’t change it.”

I agree one of the very few that have come out and said that TN leads for their services as well. I was glad to see his comments in the thread.

real good news...let's reel him in Dooley...has size, needs to add a few pounds but has the body to do so...pretty good time in the 40 for his size...I'd be willing to bet that if his whole family is attorney's, he's going to carry a high GPA...GBO!

"I have nine offers still," he said. "Michigan should offer pretty soon and I will be up at Florida at the end of this month along with Georgia and South Carolina. Monday, I'm going to talk to Notre Dame to see where they are at."

"My aunt and uncle live in Columbia," he said. "I have heard their (USC) facilities are great, the town is crazy about Gamecock football, and I really like Coach Elliott."

"I would say I've narrowed it down," he said. "Tennessee is my favorite right now but Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, South Carolina, and possibly Georgia are other ones. My dad played at Michigan."

He just picked up offers from West Virginia and Boston College.

I'm glad Dooley got on him early. His stock is rising quickly.

Are you kidding? This guy must be a bum like Christian Harris because Dooley couldn't evaluate talent if it walked up and slapped him across the face.

Damn CDD and his laziness in recruiting!

Seriously though is he a legit TE or will he be moved to tackle?

I was gonna ask if he was a traditional TE like Luke Stocker, Jason Witten, etc. or if he was an H-back. I know Coach Dooley said that he eventually wanted to transition from the traditional lead Fullback to an H-back type player.

Mike Farrell says we are the team to beat and that WVU & BC just offered.
Also says Heuerman just attended a Florida spring practice and that the gators are close to offering.

This hasn't seemed extremely difficult lately.

Hopefully, they throw the proverbial net around this kid and put him under lock and key until February 2011. :p

He also said he wants TE's that can split out wide, depending on what the defense is showing. I would say Heuerman is that type.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering, I guess Heurmann is more in the mold of a Dustin Keller(Purdue), Stocker, Jared Cook receiving Tight End. Well, hope he chooses us.

His HS is a run-oriented offense and from what Ive read, he's a very good blocker.

Jeff and Alan Posey are very important guys early on for this recruiting class. Both these guys really like Tennessee, could decide soon and have picked up some excellent offers and will continue to do so. If they can get some momentum with these two, I think the expectations for this recruiting class really take a big jump forward.
