as far as I know. he has never said different.

as long as Michigan, OSU, or Florida don't offer, he should be ours soon.

the real battle for Heuerman just began:

"I have to say the Michigan offer was sweet," the 6-foot-5, 240-pound, tight end exclaimed. "My dad and I met with Coach Rodriguez for about an hour, and he was a really good guy. I love the guy, to be honest."

"Their facilities are the best in the country, and the stadium is ridiculous," he continued. "I loved it there. My dad and I walked away with nothing but good vibes from the program."

"We spoke to Coach Rodriguez and he showed us how they will really use the tight end in their offense," he stated. "That was reassuring to both of us. I have to say that Michigan has a great atmosphere surrounding the program, and they have an incredible staff, all the way from the head coach down to the equipment manager. I couldn't have been more impressed."

The facilities and the stadium are usually two pluses(sp?) for UT. I can see this one dragging out for a long time

Michigan lock now, even though Rich Rod has been terrible there and is breaking every NCAA rule in the book.

Maybe I have him confused with another recruit, but I think his dad played there.

Nope, you're correct. He has stated in several quote including the one that LV posted above that his father played for UM. I that UM was one of the offers that I worried about the most with this kid.

Do either of you have a feel for how often a kid plays somewhere other than where his father played?

Off the top of my head it seems like players have a hard time going somewhere other than where their father played...

And just to clarify...I'm talking about cases where the father played at a decent school...not some scrub team like Western Kentucky or somewhere like that

I don't think he's a lock to UM by any means, but it definitely got a little tougher to land him. UMs offense is not TE friendly and that is a long ways away.

And his dad only played basketball at UM.

This. Hopefully offering him early, our TE involvement, and our depth with help us here.

I have seen kids that were UT legacies not come to UT. I am not saying that we couldn't pull him, just saying that UM worried me a little.

I don't like how that sounds.

Yeah, Chaz Green comes to mind.

Neither of his parents played any sports at UT though so it's a little different. And whatever he says, it did play a role in his decision and he would have come here if the evil empire had stayed.

Also keep in mind, as minor as it may seem, that Allegiant Air offers incredibly cheap flights direct from mcghee tyson to punta gorda (30 mins outside naples), making it very accessible for his family to fly up and watch him play.... You have to think that might play some sort of factor in his decision

The prices that they advertise are for Tuesdays and some pretty good prices for Thursday....
