Kelvin Benjamin
Wide Receiver
Belle Glade, Florida
Class: 2011
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 210 lbs

Benjamin is 6'5" 210 lbs from Glades Cental HS (Belle Glade, FL). UT verbally offered the talented prospect from the Muck today.

I'm telling you the kid has the foundation as a soph. in HS to get paid to play this game. Great size and will fill out a lot more, runs very well, and his hands are only getting better.

I love this staff more and more each day. They are laying the foundation for classes far in advance to take care of the team.

Miami is far from having Belle Glade on lock, and I have no faith in the staff getting after Kelvin early. Maybe they will prove me wrong in this case. I got to think UF, FSU, and UGA will be your stongest competition.

For as much flack UTs staff gets for the large # of offers in the 2010 class, they certainly are doing a good job identifying talent down here and getting after them early in 2011.

“Florida, Miami, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina State, and Florida International have offered me so far,” said Kelvin Benjamin.

“Tennessee was first to offer me after they came down to see me in the spring. I got the offer then and they faxed the official offer in September. It felt good to get that first offer. My coach called me into his office and told me about it and I was surprised. I didn’t expect my first offer to be from a big school like Tennessee.”

What does he know about the Vols?

“I know NuKeese Richardson from Pahokee signed with them last year so I have been watching their games. They are playing well and I like what I have seen so far.”

The Vols have his attention certainly, but of course he followed the in-state programs when he was a kid. One of out of the ACC and one of the SEC were the main two he watched growing up, but his interested have expanded some in recent years.

Per Scout... His top 5 is UF, UT, Miami, WVU, and FSU...

Two first names. I like it.

EDIT: Actually, he could be named after Lord Kelvin, the scientist that developed the basis for absolute zero.

I saw Kelvin mentioned in the war Room.

This guy is someone I would LOVE to see in Knoxville

1. Kelvin Benjamin - 6 foot 6, 215-pound WR - Glades Central

Benjamin is a match up nightmare for defensive backs. He is big, physical, runs well and has good hands. With his skills Benjamin may be the best wide receiver in the nation for the 2011 class. He had 36 catches for 861 yards and 5 TD's. Florida, FSU, Miami and West Virginia are just some of the schools who have offered him.

Benjamin was ranked as the #1 player in Palm Beach Co. for 2011...

Gator coaches love this kid. We have pretty decent ties at Glades Central and that's where Deonte Thompson went. I hope we can land him but it's going to be a battle for him and I can easily see UT getting in on the action.
