"Well, it was actually very intriguing. We kind of connected right off the bat, because he asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up," Harris said of his first conversation with Dooley. "I told him I want to be a cardiologist, and I heard that Tennessee has a great medical center and he was just telling me how his wife was an OGBYN and she also attended Tennessee's medical program and we just kind of connected right off the bat."
"I know a lot about Tennessee. I know they have a good winning tradition. My linebacker (Michael Taylor) committed to Tennessee, but he ended up decommitting after the whole Lane Kiffin situation went down. So, I'm pretty familiar with Tennessee," the 5-foot-10, 160 pound corner said.
"That's actually my best friend. We've been close since I came to Westlake in the 10th grade. He's just telling me to enjoy it right now, because when it gets down to crunch time you're going to be stressed-out. He said right now just enjoy the recruiting process, stay humble and don't let anything change you," Harris continued. "He said Tennessee is a great school. The only reason he decommitted, just because the fact the coaching situation changed and he felt that he wasn't going to be afforded the same opportunity. But, he told me that Tennessee is great school. "
"I'm definitely going to visit Tennessee. I love their atmosphere down there. I went down there, actually when they played Auburn last year and I loved the atmosphere," Harris said. "I talked to Lance Thompson and he said the sooner you get down here the better."
The article on rivals that discusses this youngster also discusses how he was a high school teammate of Michael Taylor, the same Taylor that de-committed from UT after UF offered him late in the recruiting process.
The thing that really bugs me is that Harris and Taylor seem to say that he (Taylor) went with UF because Coach X bailed to USC. Taylor reportedly said that he felt that he would be impacted by this change. Coach Thompson went nowhere and that was his position coach and recruiter. He was a key recruit at the LB position and would have most likely been able to contribute as a freshman....maybe even starting. His bailing out on UT led to Coach Dooley taking a chance on some much less heralded LB recruits.
Taylor chose the prettier girl (UF) over UT for his own reasons but to drag the coaching change into it is just not being honest. UF only wanted him after his bust out game (defensive MVP for his team) in the US Army all-star game. He de-committed to UT prior to Coach X bailing.
Kids should choose the school they want. Recruiting is a tough business for both the kid and the schools/coaches. That being said, it really bugs me when a decent school offers a kid, he verbals and then very late in the process jumps to another program only because the prettier girl comes along to offer late in the process. Again, when this happens, at least, be honest about it. Taylor is playing games with Harris about what really went down with his decision. I just wish that Harris would think about what Taylor did when Taylor offers advice on how to handle the recruiting process.:hi:

"The thing that differentiates me is that I make an impact with my leadership" Harris said. "I will always go 100%, I love to stick my head in there and make tackles."
He received an offer from Wake earlier this week."I'm looking for a school that wants me and wants me to be a part of the program. I really want a school that is going to be in-tune with me. I want to go to a team where I can make an early impact."
