'11 GA QB/ATH Nick Marshall

I guess we just jumped in the picture for this kid. Not really heard much about him until last night when he got his official offer from us. He looks to be legit as an QB, but it was K Smart who was just visiting him so I am guessing we like him like UT as a DB, which I just read he would consider playing. With our depth at QB this might be our only option for the 2011 class if we want to add one.

Here is a video link to a 70 yard pass that he completes while on the run his sophmore year.

Case of a kid staying quiet with rumors to flow around. FSU isn't even sure if he's playing fball or bball and what he's thinking... kid has shut off his phone and is thinking it out. Guessing UGA or FSU and solely depends on ambitions for bball.

Kirby Smart is the lead recruiter on all Georgia kids. That's his recruiting area. So, I don't think it necessarily reflects the position we are targeting Marshall for.

I think it's important that Alabama lands a QB in the 2011 class. With Greg McElroy heading into his senior season, and Star Jackson transferring, Alabama will only have two QBs on scholarship going into the 2011 season. The need for a high profile QB is not there, as A.J. McCarron and Phillip Sims have elite talent, as well as 2012 QB Jameis Winston having Alabama well out in front from his signature.

Agree Bama should take another QB, but you know CNS won't take just some quarterback, in a limited schollie year I bet he waits and takes two next year unless he can pull off the upsets of upsets and land Brax Miller.

LOL, bama doesn't know the meaning of 'limited schollies', Saban is the worst coach in america (save nutt) to abuse oversigning. You haven't took the high road yet about only signing what can get in school. It's a shame to run kids off who thought when they signed they could go to that school for all four years. Don't believe me? ESPN and others are finally reporting about this stuff as well and recruits should finally catch on.

Another disillusioned rival fan. Remember when a player signs they only receive a one year garuantee. Those are the rules sorry you do not like them. BTW way you actually might want to read the site. In the past four years the same time Saban has been at UA, Auburn has signed a 119 players more than any school in the country and that is on that site but again I guess you can not read. Also during that 4 year span UT has signed since NSD which the site does not include commitments like recent players that were aded after NSD, UT has signed 99 players, 14 over the limit.

I heard now that UGA is only offering NM as a DB not QB. That should make things a little more interesting.

I am not sure about UGA except they have offered n both sports, but I do know UA has also offered him a chance to play both sports.

If he wants to play bball, why not come to a top conference team? :) We're lined-up for the next several years. Not to mention CBP has us nationally known in the recruiting scene, getting top talent won't be a problem anymore with elite eight and sweet 16 appearances. Plus, making inroads into Memphis is huge for bball.

Yes it is a 'one year' scholarship with the assumption that the student athlete will be there 4-5 years, but please tell me that is what your coach is telling everyone "it is only a one year guarantee" when he recruits them? Yeah, I thought so. Spin it anyway you want but it's just another way for him to skirt the rules, just like the 'saban rule'.

Again we are talking about players that Saban did tell anything to but Shula did.

If you also go to the NCAA website it states that each must be made aware that the scholarship is only valid for one year.

Now if Saban the year after next when all the players there are the ones he recruited is still having players transfer or whatever then come talk to me, but right now his players are staying.

TW has a point...scholarships are a one year thing. The classy and expected thing is to renew it every year though.

But Saban isn't the type to make the so call popular move...he just wants to win and that's what he does.

That's a big reason why Saban's a great coach. You can't slack off and expect him to keep you on scholarship.

Star Jackson would disagree.

More speculating when it come to UT landing CJ and Worley...just seems like good fit for all sides but from some good sources that FSU is going to offer Ely very soon. Coach Robert Weiner believes that Bama will offer as well....Sousa is just the hot name from some nole "insiders".
