And in some cases it's warranted (taking a 3* guy over just chasing the 5* guy). Randolph, VD, Worley, Tom Smith, Kerbyson, and Posey. I don't think many would argue taking those players. If they do, they must be challenged somehow.

You are absolutely right. We have tradition and we should never lag behind you. Only something like probation or the debacle of the final year of Fulmer & Kiffin would bring us this low. Our attrition due to transfers, players kicked off, and busts is astounding. Doing the math, the amount of scholarship players we have is like a team on probation. Don't worry, we are on the rise. It may be slow, but it will be steady. How far we go? It's still too early to tell.

As for 4*'s within driving distance, I am not going to search other states (needless to say, yeah, GA, AL, SC has talented HS teams) but anyway...

TN 2 4* recruits (we will sign both.)
CA 2 5*, 27 4* recruits.

Wanna trade?

The only defense droski has is such, look at how many other BCS schools there are in Cali.

To name a few, USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford...

i hate to break it to you, but california is much larger than tenn. if tenn was teh size of california and produced that number of recruits tenn would be wash st or idaho traditionwise. the number one factor in recruiting is location. people want their parents to be able to see them play. you are within easy driving distance of far more than 2 4* recruits.

I would definitely add Jordan Williams and possibly even Saulsberry to that list...I think both have been severely underrated because of Rivals lacking a FL guy until recently...

Williams senior highlight video was just posted and it's lights out...I look forward to seeing Saulsberry's when it's posted

Good luck to Walls. Seems like he's a good guy that values his education and wanted to get a better degree at Cal. Can't disrespect that in any way. Good luck to him, except when he's playing us.

But who do we go toe to toe with in recruiting? We've got LSU, AL, FL, GA, SC, AU trying to plunder our whole region! 3 of those teams claim NC's within the last 5 years and Auburn may join that group.

defense of what? cal recruits very well. that isn't tedford's problem. considering our facilities were the worst in college football, our tradition is from 80 years ago, and we consistantly screw the pooch in big games that is.

Aight, I'm checkin' outta this conversation, it's 12:20 in the morning...

On this, I would venture it is easier to get someone to Cal rather than TN if you are selling location but I digress.

IMO, Walls is a solid player. The fact is, TN and other teams did pass on him because he is seen as a "tweener". How that translates in Cal's system is yet to be seen.

I would venture to say that at least 70% of the fan base is happy with this class... given the circumstances. In two years, we will expect better results on the field and in recruiting. With where we are now, most of us can see the foundations are being laid for a solid future. I don't see a lot of teams who were 7-6 last year tearing it up in recruiting with 5* players.

Definitely agree. I can't believe I forgot Williams. He and Randolph are probably the best 3*'s we have, IMO.

I agree. However, I thought the argument was about getting in-state recruits.

It has been rumored for quite some time that most schools in the south were going to pass on him. That could of course be inaccurate but I doubt it.

Bet Droski is happy, Cal has got a few really good players in the last couple days. Impressive.
