11 Georgia Players Have Been Arrested Or Cited

Yeah, yet Fulmer makes the front cover of ESPN...

Can anybody just admit that every big school has their fair share of problems? I mean, you find me a team with no police records between them, and I will show you a team that will win jack squat.

Since I live down here in GA, I can tell you that there is a strange dynamic when it comes to UGA players getting in trouble. As much as CPF gets the fingers pointed at him for lack of control over his players, Mark Richt seems to always get a free pass just like his mentor, Bobby Bowden. Don't get me wrong, Richt is an outstanding person and I think he does a good job, but the media down here would never dare blame Richt for a player's off the field conduct

They know Reverend Richt will preach another one of his long-winded sermons to his little angels.

Don't get me wrong though, that's a good thing imo.

I started this thread to make a point about a teams players

BUT

Richt has suspended many players for things that Fulmer in the past has not.

So

We can bash Richt all we want but the fact is that his players get 1-3 game suspensions for things while many of ours do not even get game suspenions.

Fulmer needs to step it uop

Got any examples?

...and I wasn't bashing Richt at all. Just pointing out the difference in the way Richt and Fulmer are perceived.

Of course, I'm sure just about every coach in the south is revered in the areas surrounding the college. It's the national perception that is the difference. Fulmer is now getting called on having some problems in his program, sure. The difference is people are calling Fulmer soft on his players.

I hate to say it, but I kind of admire Spurrier for not hesitating to kick even his best players off the team if they made their school look poor. Not saying Fulmer should do the same, because many of the Tennessee player's infractions are not as severe as the SoCar guys, but CPF should take a hardline stance. The guys in orange uniforms are not only brought in to go to school and play football, they are also to be upstanding representatives of the University of Tennessee. If they do things to tarnish the image of the program, they need to suffer the consequences.

I understand the sentiment, but I think it's a little convenient. It is well documented that CPF has dismissed big time players before (see James Banks and Onterrio Smith). And Spurrier's decision to kick Demetrius Summers off the team was pretty cut and dried after he flunked a drug test.

Check out this link and then tell me how hard line Spurrier is . . . The situation sounds strangely familiar - except for the punishment.

Syvelle Newton

Despite this and his involvement in theft of school property last year, Newton not only played, but started in SC's spring game.

and he looked bad

He sure did. He flat out whiffed on a deep ball on the first play of the game that should have been a 70 yard TD pass.
