'11 LA RB Kenny Hilliard

Coach O and Monte have authority to offer on the spot for defense since O is RC and Monte is best DC in country so Lane trusts them to build that side of the ball... the rest of the coaches and all Off prospects come through CLK. Coach O and Monte break down film, etc with Lane afterwards so in ways he still has final approval but if they fill they need to offer on the spot to make a big jump on a kid with big time talent those 2 can.

Is it possible that Hilliard isn't getting pursued too heavily by the big schools right now b/c they are more focused on getting a good RB for this years class and they don't want to risk scaring anyone away by taking his commitment so early? If I were an RB this for '10 I wouldn't want to sign with UT in between BB and Hilliard. It would be really hard to ever see the field with that competition.

There were never any indications whatsoever that Hilliard was leaning towards the Vols from anyone except Blur. He's gonna have to own up on this one.

The story did sound absolutely ridiculous when I first heard it.

Anything word on what happened with this situation?

If you did take a RB and this happened, you could try to find a sleeper like Tony Williams. Honestly if we got his commitment we really wouldnt need a RB this year. Hilliard's signing day is still a year and a half away

It would not be a wise decision to offer him now. He hasn't played football since the fall of '07. If he tears it up at camp next week, he might get an offer...

Hill committing to LSU really helps UT's chances with Hilliard.

"I didn't talk to anybody or really try to tour any facilities," Hilliard said. "I already know a lot about LSU and I was really just there to enjoy the game and I can tell you I sure did that."

With rumors swirling that he was thinking about committing to the Tigers Saturday, Hilliard said he is still nowhere close to making a decision.

"That was just one of those crazy internet recruiting rumors," Hilliard said. "I have not even started to think about narrowing down schools and definitely am not close to making a commitment to a school yet. I talk to (LSU running backs coach) Larry Porter a lot and he and I are starting to develop a good relationship. He is doing a good job of selling the LSU program to me and I am liking what I am hearing. But I'm only a junior so I have time. I am going to let (the recruiting process) just all play out. I will say this though: LSU is ranked at the top of my list though."
