Stature-wise, the similarities are striking.

Stephen Rivers is 6-foot-6, about an inch taller than his big brother, Philip, the starting quarterback for the NFL's San Diego Chargers.

Stat-wise, the younger Rivers is about to win that race - at least at the high school level.

Five games into his first season as the starter at Austin High School, Stephen has already thrown 14 touchdown passes. Philip didn't get the 15th of his senior season at Athens High until the third round of the playoffs.

Based on what I recall being passed around as fact down here in bammer, Phillip wanted to stay in state. I don't recall specifically how that worked out, but I think Auburn offered him as a tight end or something like that. It seems like bammer didn't offer, but that may have been wrong.

Athens is just across the line. He could be persuaded to go out of state. It seemed to work out well for his brother.

I haven't heard much about him, and you can't find much info on him. I know he's a pretty big kid. I think he's already 6-6...

I am pretty certain that he did an interview once where he said that he wanted to come to TN and al he would have needed was an offer, but we went another direction and so did he.

I found a recent article that says he is 6'5 190lbs. His school was 5-6 last year. He recently transferred to Phillips old high school. The father was formerly the HC at his new school when Phillip was there. They moved to San Diego for a while and now the they are back and the dad is the QB coach.

Yeah, he's playing in my hometown of Athens, Alabama. I haven't seen him play any this year but I hear he's pretty impressive.

Stephen Rivers, 6-6, 180-pounds, Junior Quarterback, Athens - 260 yards passing completing 15-of-21 attempts and scoring two touchdowns in a 27-0 win over Muscle Shoals.

From a September 9th Scout article... They have a couple of articles up from his sophmore year and his stats were either this good or better in those games...

When he played my high school last year with his old school,Austin, he didnt seem to be anything special. That might have had more with the fact that his old team was terrible and he had D lineman all night.
And FWIW Muscle Shoals hasnt been very good the last couple of years, they only won 2 games last year

Bama didn't even really recruit Rivers. I'm glad they didn't keeps his younger brother wide open for us.

No doubt, I can't stand Philip Rivers because of him popping off at the mouth.

Frankly i'd love a qb that could talk the talk and back it up..if he came in here and said im going to beat Florida every time i play them, and delivered we would all love it
