I was aware that Rivals was based in Tennessee, but I think I heard a while back that it had been started by an Ole Miss grad/grads. Has anyone else heard anything like this? Because I could just be crazy.
I think its actually owned by Bama grads and Scout is owned by Barner grads.
Or at least thats what I've heard.
I have always heard Ole Miss as well and may have been the one that mentioned it a while back.
The rumor/joke around Memphis in the past was always that a recruits stock would rise if he chose Ole Miss and drop if he chose another school over them, especially Miss St. I am pretty sure that this point was actually demonstrated at one time.
All in all, I do not find that to be the case these days.
espn"when i went up to tennessee, they told me i threw the ball just like (philip)," stephen rivers said.
The vols were the first to step in with a written scholarship offer.
"i was really excited about getting it," rivers said. "when you get that first one, it really means a lot to you. I had the chance to go up there (for the vols game with auburn) a couple of weeks ago and i liked it a lot up on rocky top."

"I really liked it up there," Rivers stated. "It was my first game up there, and it was awesome. I was on the second row in the middle of everything. I have been to"
"I really liked Tennessee. I liked the atmosphere and the facilities. Everything was really good. I talked to pretty much all the coaches. I talked to coach Kiffin. He was telling me that he was glad I visited and hope that I come back.
"Tennessee is a nice place. I like the way they play. There is just something about the first offer you receivethat makes you favor them. I dont have favorites right now, but I do like Tennessee."
