The defense in that video is absolutely horrid. I highly doubt this kid will get an offer from any SEC school not named Vanderbilt, Kentucky, or Mississippi State.

not saying this kind is the same type of player...but glad UT didnt say that about the defenses Heath Shuler or Peyton Manning played against in high school....

if you are carving them up...then you are doing what you are suppose to do....this kid reminds me of Chad Pennington......

Does anyone have a Wayne County schedule? I may check them out Labor Day weekend.

Tyler Rice is the best QB in Tennessee. I would take him over the Overbey kid from USJ both great talents. Tyler is the biggest sleeper in Tennessee in the class of 2011.

nice throw where the protecton broke down and he had to get out of the pocket, nice to see a high school kid keep his eyes downfield and reset.

my dad is one of tyler's high school coaches so i kinda have some insight for you guys on him. he has put on a little weight goin into his junior year. he's still a little thin but you can't coach 6'4, great vision, and a rocket for an arm.

the first two games of this season the cats have won 42-6 and 42-12. 1A competition just has nothing for this kid. playing in 1A makes it hard to get looked at by big time programs but he has the skill set to make it. he feels pressure really well and has learned to drop the ball off in the flats when he needs to. i know that sounds like an easy thing to do but when you can throw the ball 50+ yards on a rope, you kinda prefer to go deep! i honestly belive he has what it takes to make it so i will try to keep you guys informed about him as his season progresses. he's the real deal.

It would be nice to see someone from Wayne County on UT's roster. I don't think anyone has played from Waynesboro since Hubert McClain. And he held the longest punt record at UT for a long time.

I am actually kin to Tyler's mother, and I can tell you, him and his brothers play ball 365 days a year. I know that he is good at football, basketball, but baseball may be his strongest.

he looks very raw. Needs to hit the QB camp circuit this summer to learn footwork (you can tell just from that clip that he doesn't know how to get his feet set and use his strength).

Good size though, interesting to see if we pursue him.

I wish we could put an orange jersey on him for Saturdays contest with the S___ kickin' Georgia Bulldogs, he would be a big upgrade to the guy with the big red nose and floppy ears under center we have now.

As of now,Tyler has played in 5 games and Wayne County is 5-0. He has completed 39 passes and 21 of them has been to his brother Austin. Do not know how many attempts or anything else. Will try to keep you posted.

I could be mistaken but is Wayne Co. not single A and play so some really weak competition? I'm not saying that he isn't good though

I've seen Rice play several times this year and he is good very good in his region. But his competition is not good at all. He will play college ball somewhere but I don't see any way that it is in the SEC or any other major DI program. He is a good kid and with work who knows I hope he proves me wrong. But right now he is a long long way from DI.
