'11 TN RB Justin Williams

3 or 4 of my closest friends go to Davidson. I'm very sure. The kids on their team have been at DA since Pre-school. I have also met Justin a few times.

I'm not so sure of that. Not all have been at DA since pre-school. I've heard rumors about Williams's younger brother being recruited to play there. Keep in mind that when they're "recruited", they're not signing a letter of intent. Heck, some even aren't "recruited" than moreso "helped". Many private schools will help a parent find a job that's conveniently near the school to help get the student in at a cheaper cost. I can guarantee that almost every private school recruits in some type of form or fashion, though. Most are usually just smoother than Brentwood Academy was.

You are right. The correct word I think is relationship. Some people call it showing love. Some call it expectation. However it happens. BA MBA and Ensworth are neck deep in it. Why the TSSAA......I will stop now.

Why would they have recruited Justin when Josh caused the administration all kinds of trouble and was eventually kicked out?

The same reason they recruited his younger brother Jordan, who played on a Catholic Middle School team.

Josh did not get kicked out. He finished and Graduated. He helped them to win two gold balls. Joshua was a great athlete.....he just did not care about school. Football YES......school work no....He made the grade to play TSSAA, however, he seemed to be done.

Justin, on the other hand, seems to have a desire and dream different than Josh. School work YES.....Football YES....imho

I wasn't too sure of the Josh situation, thanks for clarifying. I didn't think he had gotten kicked out.

Midfielder,

I understand that you won't waiver in your argument, but I can assure you that DA, like most other DII schools, does recruit in some fashion.

You are correct. However, love and affection is alot. Think about Knox Webb. The market is open. That Head coach should be doing his best to DO WHAT HE DOES. What a market. DII shools have the freedom to pull out of zones is the difference. Knox Webb should be eating it UP.

And instead they are pretty terrible...

They will next year. They're going to be VERY good.

Isn't that because they're moving down to DII-A...

Yeah, but maybe I should have clarified the relevance. They'll be good in relevance to that division, much like a 3A team that loses in the first round of the playoffs would be a good team in 1A. They're small, and the lines an unknown, but they're very fast and speed alone will help you win HS football games, especially at that level. It won't win you a lot, but that's why they've got time to build on other things.

Yeah in II-A they'll definitely be good. I was just making sure.

But yes the competition in II-A is much lower than in II-AA, which is why there are questions about Brown and now Williams.

Well, Brown was more of a can't miss prospect IMO. He had a better frame and skillset. Not that Williams isn't a great player, but I can understand why Brown, in the end, will probably stand out as the better recruit.

Williams reminds me a lot of former Bruceton Central running back Chad Jordan. He was always near if not at the top of the state leaders in rushing, but his competition was weak.

Chad Jordan Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School Football Stats 07-08 - MaxPreps

There's his senior stats. Albeit not as impressive as Williams, those were still big numbers. Many colleges showed interest, but in the end they shyed off due to measurables/compeitition worries and Jordan now plays at NAIA Bethel. I was very surprised that a D1 school didn't take the risk, however, due to Patrick Willis coming from the same HS and facing the same questions, and then going on to be an AA and NFL ROY.

Offering kids like these are high risk/high reward. While Marlon had great height, an impressive vert, and exceptional speed, Williams is just a great solid football player. Coaches love kids like this, but in D1 football it's not always a given that they'll turn out to be productive players. He'll definitely be a kid to keep a very close eye on.

LoL.....I will mark this post....lambuth? cumberland? I asked and he has not received any info from those schools. Now UT, Vandy, Boston College, etc.....he has and has some unofficial visits scheduled soon.

Before Christmas, he benched 245. Last week (FEB) 275. Projected to bench 300 or more as the Junior season starts. Not too many RB/DB position players maxing 300 as a rising Junior. Makes you stop and wonder where he will be as a senior. Coach Law is helping to develope him. I will post as I hear info.

Williams is an exception - he'll be D1. I don't know about SEC, but D1 for sure. Most private schools, especially smaller ones, do feed NAIA and D2.
