Dual-threat quarterback
Virginia Beach (VA) Ocean Lakes

Ht: 6-foot-3
Wt: 200 lbs
Class: 2011 (High School)

Rivals Profile

We are recruiting him as an athlete, but he's listed as a dual-threat on Rivals.

He camped here, here's his coach's thoughts on UT...

"The stadium is unbelievable. The coaches have a lot of energy and with the older guys also on the staff, they are really about business. They preached a family deal there and that's what we do here too."

UT needs to come into Va. and recruit more. They are loaded with kids. Most go to VT. There is a CB in Central Va named Lorenzo Fields. Will be a soph. this year and is a stud.

Vols fans you will love this kid, been my pleasure to watch him and Justin Hunter play together the past two seasons, undefeated in league play past two seasons.

CONSIDERING: He has early offers from Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

STRENGTHS: Thourogood has good size and strength and is a powerful runner. He's most dangerous when running the ball and is hard to tackle.

WEAKNESSES: As a passer, Thourogood needs to be more accurate and his ball tends to wobble. He also needs to see the field better as he missed some wide open receivers.

He seems like the typical Va Tech type QB.

He seems like the typical Va Tech type QB.

Saw him play twice last year when I went to see Hunter and if he ends up sticking at QB its going to be at a place like VT or WVU, I'd think. Pretty big arm but would still need to develop a lot as a passer. I freely admit to having no expertise in evaluating a QB but it seemed like he would need a lot of work.

Oh yea is there any updates on this kid? From his film I would love to see him in orange next year. Hopefully, Hunter is in his ear.

Where is Thourogood in his recruitment now?

"He's mentioned he's got an idea of things and what he's looking for," he said. "He wants to make sure he's seeing everything and I expect him to set up stuff to North Carolina and Penn State. He's already seen Virginia. He wants to make sure he's going to the right place.

"He understands making a decision as a quarterback could have a big impression on bringing in other recruits. But, he hasn't said when he wants to decide."
