anyone remember singing that schoolyard song that goes like this "mine eyes have seen the glory of the burning of the school, we have tortured every teacher, we have broken every rule..."

we sang that in the 70's, as a joke. None of us were arrested, none of us were placed under psychiatric observation. Kids today get too many mixed messages from parents, teachers and other grownups. Grow up fast, here's a smartphone and an ipad. Don't grow up too fast, here's ritalin and a complete abdication of any personal responsibility.

It's no wonder kids these days are psychotic.

A group singing that song in the joking way I remember it hardly seems comparable to a kid you know is getting counseling and has some mental/emotional issues drawing a picture of shooting 3-4 people and having the label "Teacher must die" on it.

Hilarious.

If they didn't do anything, and this disturbed child shoots up a school, the same crowd would say that the education system babied him.

Perhaps we should follow the route of Texas, kids should be allowed to have concealed weapons at schools.

Damn, some people are robots. Involves a public school, therefore no matter what the school is in the wrong-- because public schools are always wrong.

Funny, in another thread the OP used The Dep of Education as his source for statistics.

I would very conservatively estimate that when I was in HS 1/4 of the male population had a pocket knife. I've carried a knife of some kind on me since my grandfather gave me a Schrade LB5 when I was in 4th grade. Many were carried in plain site on belt sheaths.

Something has gone bad wrong with an alarming number of our youth in a relatively short period of time.

I don't necessarily disagree with you; however, how many times have we heard the phrase "In a post 9/11 world."? Whether we like it or not 9/11 was a game changer.

This could be a product of the post Columbine, Jonesboro (AR), etc, etc. world. These were game changers as well. :peace2:

They shouldn't have arrested the kid IMO. Sometimes people make mountains out of mole hills. Instead of telling him to draw it out tell him to participate in sports or something.

Ya know, I was one of those kids with a short attention span but I wasn't hyper though but any how teachers pushed me aside and coddled the gifted kids (no offense to the smart kids) IMO teachers pick on kids with problems, they can be bigger bullies than kids!! No offense to teachers on here. Stop just drawing a pay check and start actually giving a damn about these kids
