UK claims an SEC and National Championship in 1951 but the Vols and the Cats each had one loss and Kentucky's loss was to Tennessee in the last game of the regular season. Both won their bowl games.

So. Even for the one season they try to claim an SEC and National title in football........the Vols beat em.
It was 1950. And it was a retroactive Sagarin poll. Tennessee was awarded the bc by Sagarin in 1956 and Tennessee refuses to claim it.

The record at home is close to .500

The record at Rupp is absolutely dismal. Atrociously, horidely, terribly bad at Rupp.
That's because of a pretty dismal decade from the late 80s to late 90s. We beat them in our last game at Memorial in 1976 and then in the first game at Rupp in 1977. That's pretty significant

This was in the middle Bernard King's game winning streak against the Cats when he vowed to never lose to them again after he lost the first game to them his Freshman year in Memorial and a UK fan threw a lighted cigarette in his hair as he left the court.

Yes, that final game at Memorial featured Grunfeld scoring 43 and King making one from his back on the floor

We are 12-12 against Kentucky in our last 24 games. Has anyone ever had that level of consistent success against Kentucky?

Nicely done, BasketVols. (Even if you are playing a second rate sport, I still respect the achievement.)

Go Big Orange!
Until these last three years, Rick had been going at 10-6 while never having a losing record in a season against them.

No. Tennessee has had MUCH more success against Kentucky in basketball than they have against Tennessee in football.
I live in Kentucky and when they start talking trash my go to line was we beat you at your best sport more than you beat us at ours.
