'12 JUCO RB Marion Grice

Hey LV let me ask you a question. Why a JUCO RB? From what I understand we are looking good with Kimbro and we have Cross. We have two coming in this year I believe. So why a JUCO RB? I could understand a DL, CB, or even a WR.

Not LV, but IMO, it may be because we haven't seen Lane in person to know if he is back from injury & capable of being the back we need him to be. Smith is IMO a couple years away developmentally and we currently have no difference makers at RB.

Good Video, speed, vision and cutting abilities look great....wonder what his story is?

Youtube Highlights

CDD said they would like their Juco kids to compete for playing time if they went after them. After watching that video, I would think this kid could not only compete for PT...but he may take the starting job. He is just explosive after that 1st cut.

? LV, more and more I see us offering guys along with Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Arkansas. I do see some prospects that we offer along with the big dawgs, Lsu, Bama, Barn, etc. But, that being said more and more I see us offering lower key guys. Is this something to be concered about?

I think we are a part of that group as all those teams tend to look to the Juco ranks to bolster their roster. With alot of the juco schools in Mississippi...both of those schools know alot about these kids. While Bama, LSU, and Auburn stockpile the top HS talent and do not need to dip into the juco ranks.

Just because a kid is at a juco does not mean he is a low key guy, it just means he did not have the grades coming out of HS. The kid could have been the #1 high school player in the country and be at Binn College if his grades were not there.

Well Arkansas was in a BCS game last year and Miss St is a pretty darn good team. So their not lower key guys if they have those offers

Absolutely. I mentioned this elsewhere, but Mississippi State is built on solid JUCO players. I think they're offer here is a good indication of this guy's ability.

I just saw where the kid was a 3star shooting guard per rivals his senior year in HS. Maybe he can help out CCM as well. :)

it is clear the staff is concerned about our RB situation.

yea, Terrance Cody and DeQuan Menzie were JUCO and they didn't do anything at Bama.

Cam Newton didn't do anything when he went to Auburn from JUCO last year.

i don't have a clue what you mean about low key guys. if you click this link, you will see almost everybody we have offered are 4stars and 5stars. http://tennessee.rivals.com/offerlist.asp

and i would not worry AT ALL about who we offer. the staff has been lights out in their evals since they have been here.

I don't think I would consider them taking a juco kid every 3-4 years snatching them up.

Miss St, and Ole Miss seem to get about 1/2 their kids from juco.

I know stats don't always paint the perfect picture but I'm impressed. Put up 17 rushing touchdowns and went over 1,000 rushing yards.

The teams you named go after JUCO players every year. If a JUCO player is elite, they will be pursued. Look at Moore, Couch, and Lanier. All had major offers. So saying that our method of going after JUCOs is different is silly.
