You keep saying this, but it's imperative that Reese plays as a freshman and develops quickly as a front court player.
We return Stokes (?) and Yemi in the 013-014 class in the front court.
I really don't think CCM has reached the level that he's going to be able to recruit the dream team players like KY does and win with freshmen.
Reese will see big minutes in pre-conference and if they can bring him along defensively he'll continue to play in the conference run.
If that's the case it's much more likely he gets red shirted if he does make it to campus.
I see him playing out of necessity.
Though not highly regarded on this board, his full name is Derek Reese Montanez.
He can play the 1-4.
He's highly motivated and will be one of the hardest workers on the squad.
He's considered a phenom by the Puerto Rican community and could be a lock for their national team.
I'll be in the minority, but I expect Martin and company to look like geniuses when they're through with this kid.
That sounds great but I just don't know where he gets on the floor this year, Especially in the front court where minutes are already going to be in high demand. Unless the kid is just a complete stud right out of the gate, I think Martin red shirts him unless injuries dictate otherwise.
Obviously, Maymon, Hall, and Stokes are our frontcourt rotation. But all three are prone to foul trouble, so we need folks behind them who can play if needed.

Feel free to bump in August, but not playing him leaves Yemi and Stokes with nothing but freshmen backing up in 013-014.I can hope right? I just done see him being an impact guy that's all, jmo.
Also, I didn't take him as a 4, from CCM he sounds to be a 3 in our system.
I think CCM is in on enought high talent guys for 2013 that we could've gone without Reese this year and used his scholarship for a better talent next year.
Once again JMO

I could see him doing like chievous this year, but playing some minutes in pre-conference would be better.
Coaches are still working on Josh Gray as well.
Well it would seem Martin sees Reese as a 3.
"
Reese, the 6-8 recruit out of Orlando's Olympia High School, brings more length to the floor.
"He's a three as far as defensively,'' Martin said. "He's a good all-around player. Derek can go inside, outside, shoot the 3-pointer or attack off the dribble.''
I just don't see a guy averaging 9ppg in high school stepping in here and making an immediate impact. He has good size, and if his defense is good he could be a great defender with his length.
I still don't think he give us much, ever, but I'll be happy to eat my words if I'm wrong.
As Zans said though, if he's a front court player id expect a redshirt this year. Stokes maymon Kenny yemi miller, all 5 I'd put ahead of Reese right now.
Face it. Miller's a bust. Only reason he's still here is Martin is too nice a guy to cut him.
We'll have 4 guys playing in the front court this year,
barring injuries and fouls.
Going to see a lot more of the 4 guard rotation if you're right on Reese. How successful was that?
Yes 4 guys will see time in the post, none of which do I think will be Reese. Maymon stokes Kenny and yemi.
Why would wee see a lot of 4 guard rotations next year if I'm right about Reese? If I'm right about Reese he won't see the floor much after the season gets going.
Golden/Moore
McRae/mcbee
Edwards
Stokes/maymon
Maymon/Kenny/yemi
That's a 9 man rotation like CCM wants, why are you saying well see a lot of 4 guard lineups? I don't see that at all...
Based on what's coming out of Spring workouts Chievous is in the mix somewhere. And you left Richardson off your 9 man rotation. And Maymon still doesn't play the 5.
Well Martins gonna go with 9, we know that.
If Richardson play it'll probably be over mcbee, and if chievous plays it'll probably be over Moore. Resulting in Richardson playing some backup pg, and so on...
How do you see it?
^
I agree with this, I think we basically see the same 9 man rotation.
I guess my hope is McRae and Edwards come in and give balls to the wall effort. If they do I feel like they're more talented than mcbee and Richardson so is prefer to see them starting.
But yea I agree with that rotation, I just feel like well be best of McRae and Edwards do what's needed for both of them to start. Not hating but if mcbee is getting 30 minutes a game im not too optimistic about next season.
I think McBee has earned the right to start. His effort sets a tone that I think McRae is sometimes lacking. However, if McRae puts it together, I could easily see McBee starting and McRae getting crunch time minutes. Also, if McRae defends, I like a backcourt of Golden, McBee and McRae to help open the inside up for Maymon and Stokes.
Everything I've heard in the last couple days says nothing about Tennessee.
Seems Uconn, UCLA, A&M, Kansas, v tech and a few others are the biggest players.
He'd definitely be a great pickup though, just haven't seen UT connected with him at all since his release.
