12 team Playoff is the start

I think the opposite. There were 4 teams that just did not belong in those playoffs, including us. We do not need to be adding more teams.
8 teams is plenty. No way in hell is there ever going to be a year when 12 teams are really going to be national championship worthy. Not ever. 16 teams is even more ridiculous.

My complaint about the CFP & TN in particular- our Bowl game was in Columbus, OH in Minus 20 degree weather for a saturday game. The loser, which we were, should have been rewarded for a good season with a bowl game for the fans! It's just kinda blah now. First round losers shouldn't just go home! We certainly deserved something for our fans other than Columbus!

By the end of the season, strength of schedule is much more accurate than an acting A D from any University charting a committee which is in charge of selecting and ranking the best 14 college football teams and determining their seeding in any playoff system. We already have two polls which rank the best teams in the Nation. While there is some biases in both polls, they are, historically , resulted in very similar results. Data are fed into computers and the results are, to me, the most accurate data we on which to select the participants and their seeding order. There were way too many”upset” in this year’s playoff for the outcomes to have been correctly seeded .
They are? Texas in no way had the 11th sos. Now maybe but even then I'm calling BS

One of the problems with this is the Conference Championships and how they treat the loser of the game.

For example SMU should have been elimination game for them.
Penn State? Texas? Should OSU gotten a bye for sitting at home? or a 5th Seed?
Should Texas or Penn State received home games as the result of their losses in the Championship Game.

No way Boise State or Arizona State should have received Bye games.
Most of us know this and it is obvious. Indiana took a slot from somebody more deserving and Tennessee did the same but who should have replaced them Alabama, South Carolina or Ole Miss, Miami.

The committee and the NCAA are to blame for piss poor work in Seeding and parameters provided by the NCAA. A piss poor production for the NCAA and the Committee. D-

As we have seen in NCAA Tournament, the committee allows the human factor and lies make up for the results. Same here nothing has changed personal bias and prejudice and conference representatives come to play.

The Chairman nevers gives a black and white explanations just takes side steps around the facts. Selection, Seeding, NCAA guidance, rules and silent rules are always the excuse. Might as well have a 6th grade class do it.

No way 64+ teams belong in March Madness either...... don't need byes at all so I vote for 16 teams, CC winners get guarantee of being in the 16 but let seeds fall where they may. So first week there are 8 games instead of 4 and the rest plays out. 1 vs lowest seed (could be lower than rank of 16 due to CC exceptions and 16 falls off the board) etc. Maybe trash the guarantees altogether, not in the 16, see ya.

As far as seeds I would prefer less committee input, more oversight of a NEW BCS like formula with composite ranking. Maybe create one poll where every team gets to select ONE sports guy and all votes public. Nothing is perfect but better than the smoke filled room.

Should CONSIDER using bowl sites instead of home fields round 1. With all the no shows in the bowls for non playoff bowls, I have to think Attendance and tv money would be better than the watered down bowls. Just let every team, post season or not have the same number of practices and move on. Just share the additional tv revenue. Different set of teams fans might show up for round 1 in hot weather or domed bowls and take the frigid factor out at the same time. Some of those shut out by hierarchy distribution might welcome a first round trip. Surely less empties than I saw when I DID drop by for a view of the games. Gotta believe the sponsors would love it and pay more. It is all about the eyes for them. Might get places like Detroit, Indianapolis or even Syracuse involved to catch northern top seeds for week 1. Obviously more fair than home sites. Establish the 8 sites and the highest seed gets first pick, and down the list to 8 gets leftover.

If they stick with home sites a different ticket split formula should be established. Visiting team gets to commit to a number up to X percent of stadium capacity at face value within 24 hours.

My first pass fix anyway.

One of the big problems is that CFB is trying to have it both ways. I don't think they can maintain playing all these games at neutral bowl sites. If they want people at the games and not have to give away tickets, they will have to play most the games at home sites. The championship game could be rotated every year to a bowl game site, like the Superbowl. This would reduce the rest of the bowl games to only non-playoff teams, think NIT in basketball.
It is simply not possible for most fans to go the games if they have to travel across the country. What if Tennessee did win? Our fans would have to travel California one week and if we won that, it would be on to Texas the next. If were it were one trip to the championship, many more fans would make it. Like in 1999.

Wasn’t UT ranked 7th in both polls and 6th in the AFCA?
They were, but in the model I threw out the top 4 conference champs host a first round game, so they would have to be seeded in the top 8. That's why Boise and AZ St jump TN in this scenario, much the same way they were 3 and 4 in the current model.

The reason I threw that out there is I don't think they'll go from letting top 4 conference champs get the top 4 seeds to a pure 1-16 rankings (even though that would probably be best).
