Has offers from UGA and Tennessee, and those are his top schools right now. His sister is a top recruit for the '13 class and is already committed to the Lady Vols.

Wow. Looks like he could be a solid contributor. If we can get him and the kid from Briarcrest I just read about, that would be a great start to the '13 class. May be a tad too late to get a whale in the '12 class.

I doubt he's as good as his dad, but I'd take a kid almost that good any day of the week.

This is from 2 weeks ago:

Davis has seen his recruitment take off in recent weeks due to his strong performances late in the season. He's been getting attention from several of the top schools around the country.

"Alabama, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Georgetown, Florida, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Florida State, and Miami are the schools I've been hearing from lately," Davis revealed. "Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, and UTEP are schools that have offered. I honestly don't know all the schools that have offered, but those are the main schools I've talked to personally. I don't know who all my parents have talked to. I haven't even talked to them much about my recruitment lately because I've been so busy with our season."

"I've been to Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech a couple times, and Auburn earlier in the year for their Midnight Madness," Davis said. "I visited UGA for the Georgia Tech game earlier this year."

While no final cuts have been made, Davis says a few schools are standing out right now for different reasons.

"All the schools I've visited are schools that I really like, like Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. I like Georgetown because I like the way they play and the type of kids they recruit. I would really just say the schools that have shown the most interest."

We are in his top five it seems.

Good news.

Would love to add him.

I live about five miles from Buford High and was tracking them pretty closely. Davis didn't seem to be making much of impact early. Don't know it was because of the transfer from GAC or not, but I was surprised he was never listed in the high scorers. He did start showing up a couple of weeks ago and had one really big game (32 points) in the playoffs. I'd be a bit surprised if he's high on Coach Martin's list right now. Maybe if he has a good summer on the AAU circuit .

Here's why you didn't hear much early in the year...

"We just had our first round game on Saturday against Spencer. They had two pretty good guards, but we ended up winning," Davis said. "I've been playing pretty good lately. I've just been working hard to get a bunch of double-doubles and making sure I'm doing a little bit of everything."

Right before the current season started, Davis decided to transfer from Greater Atlanta Christian, where he played his first two years of high school basketball, to Buford and was forced to sit out a goof portion of the season waiting to get cleared to play by GHSA.

"I only started playing like half-way through the season, so when I first started off, I was just trying to get adjusted to my team and now I'm comfortable with everybody and starting to play better."

Based on the other kids being recruited and number of spots available, I'd still be surprised if he's a take over say Nichols, Hubbs, Crawford or King.

Well hell no he wouldn't be taken over them, but there's a good chance 1 or 2 of those guys atleast may not sign here.

He's a good backup plan if they don't.

Aj is on his way to Knoxville, left just a bit ago, skipped school today to get up here early today he told me haha.

Kids a player, and with his size and length would be a solid pickup, nothing wrong with a player like him. I realize he's not a 5* top 5" guy, but he's a baller, and will be a good contributor.

I mentioned on another site that it will be interesting to see how we handle Davis. He's coming in before everyone else and he may want to commit. Which ever way CCM handles this situation will be a telling sign as to where he feels we are with JW3 and Nichols. We do need 2 posts this class, but I know some would be disappointed if we didn't land both JW3 and Nichols together. I also believe that Davis is a good player and would be a nice pick up. However, I do really prefer JW3 and Nichols...

It will be interesting, however I think he's absolutely a take by Martin, and from what Davis has told me Tennessee has pushed hard lately so take that fwiw.

Maybe you take his committ ask him to keep it quiet, and see what jw3 and Nichols do from there.

That would probably be the best approach. In the end, you just cut ties with someone else. It happens in all programs...

He's with his dad, they're both 6'9", pretty recognizable.

OP in this thread says 6'7" and SF. Has there been a growth spurt and maybe a move to the post that hasn't been talked about much? (I point out the move to the post since someone mentions Davis as a backup plan for JW3 and/or Nichols)

He's a hybrid 3/4...he just told me 5 minutes ago that he's around 6'9" 200lbs. His dad was 6'9" 215, so height seems very realistic.

He's working on his post game, right now has a guard game because of a growth spurt, but hes working hard with his dad on improving his post game.

Agree..especially in this situation. Everyone pretty much understood what Martin had and he had holes to fill. Now that he's had time to show what he can do on the court and has tennessee in an obvious good direction, you recruit more talented players.

I don't know anything about this kid but sounds like a nice prospect.
